Buying a E55 AMG

Hey guys im looking into buying a E55, ive read up alot and seen the diffrences between the 04-04 and 05-06 , like the cluster, center console etc

My concern is a friend of mine told me the 03-04 have many electrical issues etc and are problematic, but the 05-06 are good, how true is this ?

Thanks

Do a search, you can are going to stir up a hornets nest. In general any Benz made from 2000 to 2006 is not gonna be reliable, it is common knowledge Mercedes had issue even into 2007. I hate saying as I love Mercedes but its well known in the enthusiast community.

That being said the car sold for $90,000 new and even if you can afford it now the repair bills still reflect that of a $90,000 dollar car. If you are DIY person or can get a warranty go for it. Even if you DIY parts arent cheap 1 front strut is $500 not installed.

Good Luck

Might be 'common knowledge', but my 05 wagon has been pretty darn reliable.

Common knowledge that 00 to 06 are not reliable?? Where are you getting this info. My 01, 02 and 05 have been great.

E55 AMG
I have an '03 W211 E55 and its never really given any problems a couple of small things but nothing ever serious.

if you have a freind at a dealship ask him to run the vin number for you and get the cars history i.e services, parts etc....

Good luck with the decision but im sure i can almost speak for all here....

if the car turns out to be clean and problem free..... you'll always be looking back......... in the rear view mirror to see what loosing to you
