When you build the car on the mbz website if you pick the PP with the car it forces you take the red calipers or the carbon ceramics.

In the vid what are the caliper colors??

Anyways who cares, its a magazine and a single transaction video. Do we ever take Gustav's vids at face value? I have no doubt it will be a close race one way or the other. The DCT is a more efficient tranny too especially at higher speeds. Lets see some stateside owners run their cars.
The calipers are silver. I believe in europe you can opt out of the red and replace with silver. Its a PP package, there is no doubt there. Its stated in EVOwrite up numerous times. You can find some scans in the 212 section.

Also so another comparison from Autoziuteng. M5 slightly faster across the board. M5 almost as quick to 0-200km/h as Panemera Turbo S.

I think the M5 got a tiny jump or the E left late. The M5 is really fast, though. It was a great run for that car.

All you need to know is an E55 with some mods will beat them all. My car turns 8 years old in 2012 and the old girl still has it!

don't be sure of it, i once had one of the beast and modded to 500rwhp, but again it was side by side with my new stock CLS63 PP.

so the new ones are really fast, if a 63TT is tuned, i can a sure you it will be side by side with SL65 BS.

i raced a stock one and he started to split me after 200km and my speed limiter stoped me while his car kept going.

And with a chip and an exhaust tweak the new TT cars, including the M5, will wipe the floor with anything produced before 2012.

This is very true! Unless it is exotic-metal racing them lol. Both cars are fast no doubt about it!

100% agreed. I just take quiet satisfaction at an 8 year old E55 with some slight mods (Pulley, Tune, Exhaust) can keep up with/or beat the new powerhouses today that cost $90K - $130K new.

Very few 8 year old cars (BMW M5, M3, Porsche 911, Audi, American Muscle) can say this. (Come to think of it, can any?)

My point here is the E55 was way ahead of it's time and 8 years on, (And keep in mind the E55 was designed 10-14 years ago - late 1990's) the compeition is finally matching it.

So props to the old girl.

And to add to this the e55 can go 0-150mph in 23.1s and 22.8s. Now is it worth spending all that money to get maybe a 1s or so faster to 150mph? My mind is telling me to mod my 55 and be happy with what i got.

You guys are missing a big important point though - the E55 modded may be impressive in a straight line and perhaps not a world slower than these new cars, but don't forget handling, and everything else. I'm a fan of the E55, but on a track these new cars, especially the M5, and the newer 63, would be in a completely different league. I think that is a general nature of AMG cars though from a few years ago - only more recently have they become better balanced, with better handling, etc.

Yes we all know the weakness of our car, handling. But how often you punch your car and do street racing or in a track ? so far not me. E55 worth average $25K today. If you add $10K of mod it will be equivalent or even faster than a stock W212TT that almost $100K. At least thinking like this make me feel better.......

Pointless to compare modded with stock. The E63TT can be modded also.

The bigger issue is that the M5 stock can beat the new E63 stock. We'll need some more data points to be sure. But if it is true I would hope AMG does something about it. Comparing M5 to PP edition isn't exactly fair either because the standard E63 is probably going to be more expensive than the M5. Also, AMG would have to ensure that every magazine gets the PP edition to avoid a big pile of confusion.

The E63 got a late jump... the difference is not much... look at the trap speed and time...

Previous Generation E60 and E63/55 was bus lengths... so AMG has made up the difference.

The M has the best transmission... but lots of boost already in stock form

The AMG has a weaker transmission.. but plenty of boost left to be increased.

Also, good luck taking the BMW to a dealer with a tune, piggy back. Picture this.. you get a CEL light, you have to wipe out the codes and drive around until the CEL comes on again and then take to the dealer. That's what the N54 guys do.

We documented BMW dealers hate mods... compared to MB dealers

E63 does not look to be the PP. Plus, it did get off the line late. There is your difference right there.

Also, notice the M5 appears to be using launch assist. The E63 does not. Granted it only yeilds slightly better performance but when you have a driver like the one in this video behind the wheel of the E63 and who is a little late, you should use the race assist. The 63 would be right next to the M5 if not beat it

It is stated in the actual Evo article it has the PP.

Now the 55k...sure it can be tuned to make solid power but still pales into comparison to MB's V12s.

Isnt this the article that said the E63 does 0-60 in 4.9?? It was EVO.

It's all wrong.

this video is pointless and cheap + bad since the minute they got a panamera S instead of turbo or turbo S.

you can feel BMW almost paid for them to make it show like that and made MB start late or they really love BMW.
