Damaged Oil Cooler

https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...de-final-3.jpg

Need help ASAP... i hit a huge hole and it completely trashed my lower oil cooler that is shown in the link above. Its the skinny cooler that is under the Heat Exchanger, the one lowest to the ground. I can't find the part number anywhere and the places that do come up with an item do not have a picture. Can someone please help me source this part? The cooler is dripping oil and i do not want to even start the car with a leak. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Thanks

Have you tempted to call the dealership, for a part number and a price?

I have, but they keep telling me the oil cooler is on the passenger side in front of the wheel. I'm telling them its the oil cooler under the heat exchanger.

I even looked on AllData and it's only showing the one on the passenger side, also.

ask the dealer to fax the diagram to you. You are buying the part here i think you should do your research on dont just rely on what I say.

Sahrdul know I just did mine back in October. Mine was $278 an I replaced the tube the connects to the oil cooler. That was $74.

I would just eliminate it unless you do circuit racing. But that's just me.

UPDATE: The correct part # for the oil cooler is 211 201 0201.

The part number mentioned in the previous posts (211 500 2802) is for the intercooler.

And you def need to run your oil as cool as possible..... do you realize how hot these engines get?

Yes, the car has another one right next to it that has a HUGE fan and everything. I've never even had a car with so many coolers ( TWO for power steering and TWO for oil? WOW! )...lol. It's not that they are completely useless, but for anyone that doesn't race the car on a circuit, they kinda are.

I was wondering what all the different coolers were for up front. Shocked at the huge engine oil cooler with a fan no less!? New stuff to me. I guess if you were gonna go bombing on the autobahn for extended periods it would be a great idea. Is there a way to pull up engine oil temps somehow? What temp does the engine oil fan kick on/off?

Could this fan be one of the crazy noises sometimes heard on startup? Test to make sure its working perhaps?

Some E55's don't even have this lower oil cooler. Don't know which though but I've seen pictures of heat exchanger installs that don't have it at all.

This was my exact problem.... since i am running a larger Heat Exchanger, the Oil cooler was always much closer to the ground. It basically sat on top of the Splash Shield. The hole/dip i hit damaged my splash shiled and hit the oil cooler hard enough to cause a leak. The new oil cooler is coming in tomorrow. Got it for $280 from MB of White Plains. I hope to find a way to mount it a bit higher, maybe in front of the Heat Exchanger.

In any case, I think it fits behind....can't remember.
