05 E55 Wagon ECU/TCU Tune results
#27
I made the offer to Bramage last night to swap my TCU into his car to see if he likes it.
If anyone in the San Diego area wants to "try before you buy," I'm sure we can work something out. It only takes 5 minutes to remove the thing.

I am wondering if the TCU is VIN coded like the ECU? I want to try this, and see what it feels like, but if coded, a swap wont work. Anyone know if the TCU can be swapped out??
Thanks!!
Good meeting you Denroll! Your car looks sick! Hopefully no rain tomorrow, we can check out qualcom. Curious what this pulley is going to do

First off...358 Stock on that dyno?!?!?!?!? Holy crap. Beast-ville.
I laid down 365 as my base line....and THEN we dug in and found a Kleeman 168!
Secondly...anyone talking crap about Tony or any of the guys at BIP can suck it. A couple of years ago I had a gripe with one of the guys working for Jason because he wanted to do more for my C32 than I wanted to (just eager) but aside from that, this crew is top notch. They worked in conjunction with Eurocharged to tune my car...Jerry was awesome with my swapping pulleys that I didn't like and NONE of them pushed anything on me I didn't want or talked crap about each other. I was actually the opposite of a lot of what I see people here on the board say.
Now...I'm running a VERY conservative setup to what a lot of guys here are - lots of air (my headers and open exhaust)....small pulley (Kleeman 168)...and a light tune... so maybe I'm not at risk for a "bad" tune like others are. But all parties I've dealt with have been spot on awesome: Jerry remotely and Tony and the BIP crew 1 mile from my house.

Just saw....that's that crappy conversion factor crap thing. I didn't get that output on my car from their dyno (425 at the wheels). Figure if Craig runs 11.00 on DR's (with only 461 at the wheels on that heartbreaker).... that adjusted number is silly.
358 STOCK on that dyno is impressive.
I just saw a brand new M3 (stock) throw down 301 or 302 (something like that) on that dyno. The owner was pissed...but we all were impressed. :-)

It was funny...he turns to me and says, "I thought it was supposed to have 414 horsepower...and I knew it would lose some to the wheels..." He was such a nice guy and totally new to the sports car world... Cool thing is, he was surrounded by good folks and the BIP crew that instead of being really pissed, he was like, "Well...what do I do to fix that?" :-)
Jason and Greg showed him my cutouts...he was like - Oh...I have to have those...("You mean it could be quiet OR loud?!?")....
Whats funny now is I just tell my friends my car has 425 hp. :-)

You have those BIP cutouts, too? I really want them. Perhaps after I get: heat exchanger, pump, supercharger pulley, throttle body, fuel rail, injectors, airbox, Morr wheels, and probably some other things I'm forgetting.

Forget that long list.
Do a Pulley and a Tune to start. :-) That's it. Then....from there...just take your time....AND LOVE THIS CAR
I'm not even in the "11 sec street tire" club after the one time I went to the track. It's faster than my next door neighbor's GT3. It's faster than the guy 4 doors over with the ridiculously jacked new mustang. The guy at the end of the street with the GT-R? Doubt it. But all I can say is Tune & Pulley...because beyond that its just a matter of grip.

My car came with what I just discovered is a 172 (Bramage and I measured it last night) and probably a tune. It put down 400whp on a dyno dynamics. I have a set of MBH long tubes sitting on my floor right now, waiting to be installed. Modding is like an addiction.

Pullejo, your car looks amazing in person. You have put together the perfect blend of power and class.

From what I've heard they are not vin coded but there are tons of different tcu versions so make sure part numbers match

Hurry up and install those bad boys

What does the TCU do exactly?
Change the redline/rev limit? Can you keep the stock redline? I would be afraid to go any higher than stock?
Change torque settings? Rid of limiting TQ factors? How much does that improve performance?
Quicker shifts?
Anything else? Justify why I should spend $6xx and change for this upgrade

Torque limiter removal
Faster shifting
Increased line pressure
It really makes a difference. I have had veterans on this forum tell me that this should have been their second mod.
The current holiday pricing is $450.
:-)

Nice. Can we keep the stock limiter/redline? I do not want to increase that and keep it at 6300, like stock.
All the other upgrades sound awesome. What does "increased line pressure" mean ?
Thank you. How can I place my order for this sale price?

Hell, I have been doing some research and Louisiana has a pretty nice track in Lafayette with DA close to MIR, we should all plan a trip there in the spring around mardi gras time to break some records and tata's
I too love Vodka Redbulls along with Jaeger somewhere in between. Tony or J will contact you about the specifics on my TCU tune
Can you set the shifts points at any rpm?

Paul, you need to do an open header blast through the vinings where they have that outside bar up stairs at the Vinings Inn, make sure you get it filmed That would be epic my friend or even better where that Sushi/Hibachi restaurant is located in the train. Lots of people sit outside there around the fish pond, lmfao

sweetness...wouldnt worry too much about the track stuff. Track prep was poor and the heat won't help. It was more just having fun and seeing who could do the best burnout! lol
