Acceptable entry level wheel set... where does it start $$$ ?
Post pics when they are on. I like 18's on our cars not because they look so great, but because I am tired of replacing barrels on 3 piece 19". 20".. not in my area. They would not last to the end of the block.
You would think I live on the back roads of Arkansas.. Nope

Im sure we are worse that 8th.. It is a ****ing joke. I swear, my V-10 F-250 4X4 has trouble pulling through some of the bigger pot holes. They found a family of 9 living in one of the pot holes near downtown

Everyone thinks my 20" are 21" or 22" always.

I just bought a new set of tires... not gonna replace them too. Plus, I want as much sidewall as possible to keep the stock ride quality. I want the black centers so I don't have to clean them every morning... lips are easy to wipe.
Lastly, this isn't the kind of car I want to mod. If the factory AMG wheels didn't develop cracks, I would have powdercoated the spokes and been finished with it. I'm eyeing a 69 Cuda Notchback restomod project to put a 6.4 Hemi in. That's what I drop money on.

Well there you have it.
I can tell you from experience though, as many others can, that 19's and less sidewall do not diminish ride on this car like most others. The airmatic feels virtually unchanged on my car going from 18-19 (my new setup is 245/35 front and 275/30/19 rear Nitto NT-05). I actually like it much much better. HUGE improvement in my book in ride quality. The car felt slushy before especially in comfort mode, and with the new setup feels way more planted and has way more of a positive firm response to transitions laterally and longitudinally. I will never go back to 18's on this car except when I mount my stockers with drags at the track.
Seems alot of people who get 18s end up wishing they went 19s.
Please look into 18 inch CLS55 AMG reps- Members Chawkins had them on his car (pretty sure they were 18s) and they looked absolutely tough. These are the same wheels I have in 19 inch variety and they are the only 18s I've seen on an e55 that I didn't think looked too small. AKnight's Forgestars also look pretty crisp and they're 18's, and very light.

That's nice to hear that going to 19's in the future won't effect ride quality. I've never experienced that with any other Mercedes I've owned but this is my first E55.
We have entirely different needs and expectations from our E55's. I don't care how my E55 corners or how fast it is and I'll definitely never take it to a dragstrip. I have other things for that.
I thought about getting some MB take-offs but I want some black centers so I don't have the dirt and dust problems.
Anyways, thanks for your feedback.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
If anyone is aware of decent 2pc polished lip 19's with 6-7 spokes, please post up. No rivets or rivet look, easy to clean, and generally around $300-$500 a wheel.
We'll find out about that too motokras, I ordered OEM rotors and Akebono's too.

Well here's the update on the MRR GT1 wheel purchase.
Not so good.
MRR said their 18" GT1's would fit. They don't. The front caliper makes contact with the wheel. The offset is correct, there simply isn't enough diameter
19" and up will be fine. It's a good looking wheel in person, especially for $200 each.
After calling around it came down to:
TSW Interlagos forged
TSW Nurburgring forged
or
Mandrus Millenium
Mandrus Wilhelm
These were the only 18" guaranteed to fit over the front calipers. I chose the Mandrus Milleniums in black.
Had I not just dropped $850 for new tires, I would have gotten the MRR 19" with some new Conti's BUT i did.
Think I'm gonna start a MRR GT1 thread about fitment as I was told by numerous places that the 18's would fit.

I really like the C63 AMG wheels the the store above as them in 19"s for our E55. Good prices too.
