2012 CLS63 vs F10 M5 - Video and Test
On the straights: M5 launched superbly but the CLS reeled the M5 and a draw at the finish...
This is similar to the other E63 vs M5 where the AMG starts late, but able to stay with the M5.
conclusion: These 2 cars are very similar in straight line performance. Gone are the days of the E60 highway dominance.
Around the track: Both cars went into limp mode. But the M5 took a bit longer to do so.
The M5 was able to be faster by less than 1 second. Not surprising the M5 a better track car. But the CLS is no slouch either. Its just one test and 1 driver, so many factors could attribute to the time.
But clearly, both cars are close again.
Either M division is lagging or AMG is stepping up..?

The only thing I would say is you just never know if the testers are doing multiple shoots of a head-to-head drag race when they do multi-angle shots. Did they show the clips with the most dramatic launch but mated that with the most dramatic finish? I noticed that the show Battle of the Supercars did that often...changing the distances and apparently doing runs solely as photo-ops as the cars could not have been that close to each other when the differential in timing would say otherwise.
