Trans Help

Dealership installed new alternator and reversed my trans cooler lines got car back and had fluid blowing out vent tube at high rpm after car warmed up. Dealership could not figure out why untill 4 return trips where shop manager and I noticed lines were backwards at bottom of car. Transmission is now slipping and blows fluid out still. Did this reversal cause transmission not to be cooled and cause permenant damage due to excessive heat or will it flow in both directions? I heard that It will not and it did cause the damage but would like other educated opinions. Thank you for your help
