Guys I dont care what pulley you put on it but to make power you need to keep this blower cold.

I have seen a 168 car in cold temps lay down 520whp and most records are broken in the dead winter with temps under 50 ambient.

I found a huge BMW power steering res out of a 7 seriers and got one of those suckers,I might buy another and have them linked up to add more volume.

I have a small radiator and I installed 2 fans on it and will run that infront of the big radiator behind the front grill.

and last but not least I am sourcing a huge 280-300mm thin metal fan that I will put right on top of the blower to blow air on it.Yes I know there is not that much room with the hood closed but it will help moving air around.

here are some pics

Found a nice 200mm dual ball bearing fan for us guys. Its under 30 bucks and flows 134 cfm at 800 rpms and only draws .03 amps

all you need is to make a small bracket and let that sit ontop blowing air on the blower.

Here is the fan I found!!! Im still looking and need to see how much room we have to play with.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835209021

Here is the 7 series res that looks like its 2x as big as the one people were using from the 3 series

LOL that was the first thing I wanted to do and then I remembered I drive a MB.

I actually thought about cutting the hood haha.

few more pics of my mini heatexchanger,I know it wont do much for cooling but its mostly for adding more volume to the spilt system.

maybe something a bit more classy for hood vents - like the Silverstone Jaguar?

a good custom hood would definitely cost $$$ - heck even make it carbon

A member on the C63 forum (dadsamg) actually designed and now sells a vented cf hood as a vendor for the C63. It looks sick and is very reasonably priced! Helped a lot too with their cooling.

Someone already did it on an e55,Wish we had the hook up to whoever made this back in 07.With this hood I would not need any fans at all.

I could see it work very well with a nice mean heat exchanger and the 55 bumper. No way it'd look right on my car though haha.

I can almost bet bif money that in the summer time that hood would lower temps over 15 degres.

Have you even opened your engine bay in a 90 d day and try to touch your blower? Its litterally hot enough to cook a steak haha

Newegg and eBay are about to be banned, good going skratch.
I like the idea though, even if the cooling is minimal it looks really cool. To enhance the cooling, you could hang some cans of compressed air upside down and have them wired to blow onto the exchanger with the push of a button. I'd give you the link to Office Depot for the air, but then they'd get banned too.

This will work really well.

@Skratch77, about the fan for the s/c? It will need some serious heat insulation? Thoughts?

I'm Officially glued to this mod.

Cheers Skratch77 - Great thinking.

The limitation is still the BTU capacity of the intercooler. A heat exchanger twice the size will make no difference. The over-sized heat exchangers and high capacity pumps which are now extensively in use either match or exceed capacity of the factory intercooler. Chilled water from a reservoir increases the temperature differential over the OAT and is helpful. The engine thinks it's wintertime, but you're still stuck with the BTU limitations. The SLR's and forthcoming Evo top mounts bear this out. The TD between the IAT and OAT is a constant relative to the latent heat of compression. Ergo we observe the 113's increase power the colder the OAT becomes. In other words, if a particular heat exchanger lowers the coolant temperature to the OAT you would be at 100% efficiency and from what I gather, the various higher capacity HE's and pumps are about there. But, again kids, it's the BTU capacity of IC.

And a final thought - - - how are the stock factory cast pistons going to stand up to the power increases from the forthcoming EVO IC's? I know some of you serious racers already experienced failures. As you start to edge ever closer to that 200 BHP/litre figure you really need to begin to look at fairly exotic modifications to maintain good reliability.

Im not trying to make record gains, this will be a low cost option that will help a little in the summer time.

160 cfm air blowing on the blower should help a little also.

That vented hood above is exactly what we need.any info on price?

I'm sorry but vents on a Mercedes 4 door..... What next? A wing? It's bad enough companies like WALD bother to make kits for these cars which are hideous. I know it's the owner's car and they can do what they want but these kits RUIN a Benz's class.
