For some reason there is a rumor that you have to use the control wheel to make this system work and that is simple not true, you do it just like the stock comand

For those that don't know, we have many of the supplies to change or add to the factory system. We are the north American distributor for mObridge (as of November 2011) too.

A Mobridge ipod and Bluetooth system is a pretty good starting point if you want to retain factory head unit, and it allows for the use of the factory steering wheel buttons, integrates with MOST, etc. Then I bought a JL audio 500/5 amp which has 100x2 for the front, 25x2 for the rear, and 250x1 for the sub, used new front speakers, and left the fatory rear speakers and sub. Oh, and an Audsion Bit Ten EQ-type-thing that allows for the removal of the factory settings. It actually sounds pretty good, is a clean design and cost $2800 installed with Dynamat in the doors, etc.

Did some research. If you want to maintain the factory Comand, at minimum, I believe you'll need a new subwoofer, multi-channel amplifier and audition bit 1 or 10 (or equivalent). I'm not sure how much modification will be needed to the vehicle. I guess it all depends on the footprint of the replacement amplifier and converter.

I'll take some pics of the box I built when I get back to my car this week. I removed the factory sub and built a box that fires up through the factory hole against the back glass. It's nice and clean and bolts to the rear shelf so it stays out of the way. I've got a 10" type R in it powered by a clarion amp. I'm going to switch to all JL eventually. This was just what I had laying around and it sounds way better than stock.

Shouldn't need mob ridge unless u want to integrate iPod or BT? I have a mobrodge iPod/BT unit in my Cayenne and it's only for that. If u only want to add a 10" sub to enhance sound quality u only need a subwoofer, audison bit one and new amplifier. The audison will take care of the audio processing for the Comand.

Wow. So in addition to a CleanSweep (or equivalent), you will also need a mobridge MOST converter (or equivalent)? Two devices after the head unit until it goes to the aftermarket amp?

Carefull!!!
I just got my car back from respected audio shop and now my keyless start doesn't work. I had amps and focal speakers installed.
The dash says " key not recognized"
I've tried everything to fix

I tried a 10 in the trunk of my E55, but the car is so quiet that the sound wasn't getting into the cabin...i switched it out for a 12 and it was perfect.

So Im wondering if anyone has just replaced the factory speaker with aftermarket and run them off the factory amp? Or is that even possible? I know to get the best sound I would need to replace the amps, but I don't want to spend a lot Andy hack up the factory system. Thanks for any help

The amps in the '03-06 E's are horrible. I replaced mine with a factory '08 harmon kardon amp and it made a helluva difference. The amps have different part numbers. The older style has heat sinks and new style has an integrated fan. Speakers were left alone and I'm thoroughly satisfied.
