By using the direction pad, and okay on the head unit.

For some reason there is a rumor that you have to use the control wheel to make this system work and that is simple not true, you do it just like the stock comand

For those that don't know, we have many of the supplies to change or add to the factory system. We are the north American distributor for mObridge (as of November 2011) too.

Oh, and an Audsion Bit Ten EQ-type-thing that allows for the removal of the factory settings. It actually sounds pretty good, is a clean design and cost $2800 installed with Dynamat in the doors, etc.
This maybe something I'd be interested in doing. Did you just replace the factory amp with the JL amp? If so was it a direct replacement or did you need to make mod's? What's the Audison Bit Ten? What would I need that and how would it look installed?

Did some research. If you want to maintain the factory Comand, at minimum, I believe you'll need a new subwoofer, multi-channel amplifier and audition bit 1 or 10 (or equivalent). I'm not sure how much modification will be needed to the vehicle. I guess it all depends on the footprint of the replacement amplifier and converter.

You will also need something like a mob ridge to drive the new amp. All audio in the car is on the most ring which is optical. The only audio that is moved about with copper wires is post amp to the speakers

Hey! Check out my audio install below, it sounds like you are trying to do the same thing I did.

Yep basically something like that. Hows the bass? Do you hear any rattling from outside?

I'll take some pics of the box I built when I get back to my car this week. I removed the factory sub and built a box that fires up through the factory hole against the back glass. It's nice and clean and bolts to the rear shelf so it stays out of the way. I've got a 10" type R in it powered by a clarion amp. I'm going to switch to all JL eventually. This was just what I had laying around and it sounds way better than stock.

Shouldn't need mob ridge unless u want to integrate iPod or BT? I have a mobrodge iPod/BT unit in my Cayenne and it's only for that. If u only want to add a 10" sub to enhance sound quality u only need a subwoofer, audison bit one and new amplifier. The audison will take care of the audio processing for the Comand.

There is a mObridge that converts audio directly from the MOST ring to analog for external amps

Wow. So in addition to a CleanSweep (or equivalent), you will also need a mobridge MOST converter (or equivalent)? Two devices after the head unit until it goes to the aftermarket amp?

To do it right yes. And by then you're getting into NTG 2.5 conversion costs

Swapping out the deck is the much easier, less costly approach if upgrading All of the audio.

That's one of the reason I wanted to stay with factory.

The question is ...why are YOU trying to fix it ? Is that not THEIR responsibility ? Any 'respected' shop should and would ..

After a few dozen of em, it becomes Very easy. Actually these cars are as simple as doing the majority of the more common Toyotas, Hondas,etc..

Defiantly take some pictures. I want something that wont take up too much trunk space and looks clean as well, I was going to do a similar set up like Mikey33 but I'm open to ideas.

If you're looking for bass in an E55, go with a 12" instead of a 10".

I tried a 10 in the trunk of my E55, but the car is so quiet that the sound wasn't getting into the cabin...i switched it out for a 12 and it was perfect.

The amps in the '03-06 E's are horrible. I replaced mine with a factory '08 harmon kardon amp and it made a helluva difference. The amps have different part numbers. The older style has heat sinks and new style has an integrated fan. Speakers were left alone and I'm thoroughly satisfied.

You can really hear the difference in the same brand amps in a car environment? That's very surprising to me, if so.
