Preparing for Long trip
So I am going to see my GF in ATL for NYE and decided to drive down and see what a V8 can really do. Is there some preperations I should be doing? I have a winter tire issue now that it sounds like its rubbing but its not, kind of like a howling. I think I might have to bite the bullet and put new tires on before the trip. Should I be getting rid of "dead" weight from the car or just keep it as stock as possible?

same things you would do for any other car.
spare tire if it has 1 extra qt of oil blanket some wrenches and torx bits for any minor work change the oil and air filters if needed and look the car over from stem to stern for any potential problems. check tire pressures coolant level and carry a flashlight and spare batteries. AAA card is a must . take your time enjoy the ride and the car!

Yeah my most concern is something going wrong while driving. I done everything you guys did besides the tire pressure. Front left tire makes a howling sound but it isn't worn that bad. It makes a noise on a certain part of the tire.

anyways, I just found a ticket for $175 so I am just flying down instead. I figured out my tire situation, it was completely worn from the inside. That what happens when lowering too much happens

Couldn't have said it better myself. Oh, and you don't own an e55/63.
When I went to school/lived in Toronto, I always took my highly modded b5 a4 for 600 mile trips to Boston and back. Aside from tickets and border dicks - I've never had an issue, nor had I presumed one. This is in 30+ trips.
can't imagine how "fun" these trips would be have I "prepared" for them.
And Aknight a dick? Why? He's right.

I would just ask if there is some things you guys do before hitting the road for 850+ mile trips. I just posted in here because more members check in here and have a lot better input. Sorry I won't post in here no more cause I don't own a AMG...

Has your mother let you out of the house yet?
Seriously?
It's a car, you put gas in and it goes.
Make sure you use the pisser before you leave.
Maybe you want to mark down the cracker barrels on a map?
Prob a good idea to stay away from those homosexual rest areas in South Carolina like in that movie "Something about Mary"

Haha I actually marked off the Waffle houses. I had my car checked out at the dealer for fluids and needed coolant badly even though my sign didn't show up. Anyways since I am flying, no point of this thread. Thanks for the help for those who actually did
