What radar detector do yo use?

How did you guys install your radar detector (I have a V1 by the way). I just picked up a 2008 E320 (diesel) and need to install the V1 in it but I don't see a good spot to "permanently" install it... I've been searching here for ideas.

Search "Valentine One" a bunch of threads show up. You can hardwire it several ways..

It still allows you to use the sun visor, but tucks away nicely and is still in easy reach. Run the hardwire down the a-pillar or tap power from the overhead console. I used the suction cup mounts which helps keep it really close to the windshield and unobtrusive.

Very cool. It appears there that the detector itself is held to the windshield with the suction cups... Is that the best way? I was hoping to mount to the headliner but don't see a good way.

Unless you build some sort of custom cantelievered mount, you will find that it's impossible to get it close enough to the windshield to still allow the sunvisors to work. Suction cups are a simple way to tuck it in nice and tight.
Save the complex solutions for some other day!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I also have the MidCity Enginering package that allows all of the alerts to show on my OEM Dash Custer making it 100% stealth at night!

Sadly it doesn't look like they offer this anymore.

Actually, I have my V1 mounted right above my rear view mirror and it works perfectly! Its sits between the top right side of the rear view mirror and the Visor.

What did you mount your V1 to... and with what? doublesided tape? Any chance you can post a pic? Thanks!

Previously I would buy whatever new product Escort came out with, but the Valentine One and its arrows and number counters have saved me more times than I can count, and the range is amazing.

I had a Valentine but switched to an Escort 9500xi. I miss the arrows I will admit but love the GPS function of the Escort.
I just got back from a trip to Fl. Where I spent a week driving around. All of the annoying door opener x bands store in the Escort after two times you pass them. Bottom line is it's whisper quiet in areas that you frequent unless there is a cop around.
The sensitivity of the Escort seems much better than my V1. On the way to Fl I got several hits that indicated KA band. My initial reaction was to smack the brakes. After about a mile I would finally see the cop.
Another plus is the red light camera warnings of the Escort.
Have fun,
Warren.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Once was pacing an Altima at around 80mph. V1 KA went off, nothing could be seen, ARROW pointed to rear. Long stretch of road, just the Nissan and myself. I pulled off the next offramp, waited underneath the overpass for a few minutes and checked email. Got back on and yep, down the road a bit CHP had the Altima pulled over. Have no idea where he came from-thinking he was hauling *** on us from behind but just behind the some of the long curves. Now ask yourself, had I been there, do you think the CHP would have pulled over my car or Altima given the choice? I am now a believe in those arrows as even had I just slowed down when the KA went off, I would have been toast IMO.

My car is in storage for the winter, but I can snag a picture hopefully this week.
It is mounted with the stock suction cup bracket the V1 comes with.

Is there a reason people don't use the driver visor to mount it? I hate the suction cups - visible outside the car and they don't stick that well (esp when cold). I have mine temporarily mounted on driver visor and it seems to work well there. I had windows tinted this morning and had a windshield band applied which hides the detector from the outside front... so that is probably where I'm going to leave it. I lose the visor functionality but the tinting reduces my need for the visor (and I could still use the visor if I really needed to)
I am debating if I want to mess with the remote display... so far the visor seems to work fine enough that I don't need the remote display.

I have a V1 in the usa.
I'm in Scotland for the holidays. Borrowed a Garmin which has a speed camera database, I think, in it so it warns you when there is one in the area as well as providing nav and other functions. I don't know how it is updated.
Wish Comand did the stuff this does and had such an easy UI. they use the same map software supplier.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

So I guess that the rd brands that learn the location of the decoy transmitters don't go off when they move the sign and the officer shoots you?
