Dead battery and key dosent work for trunk!!!

Pull out the metal key, insert it into the lock cylinder, turn it clockwise I believe, and then really squeeze the plastic handle that you normally use to open the trunk and it should open. I believe turning the key moves a mechanism that goes in front of the plastic handle to turn it from an electronic to a mechanical switch.

WTF? I Had the same thing happen to me a few days ago... Bought a battery today, Will swap it tomorrow. Hope that does the trick...
I know a battery normally fails in the winter but the temperature is in the 80's here in FL.

I just tried that and my key will turn about a quarter turn to the right then I have to try really hard and it will turn another 1/4 inch but trunk still will not pop open. Is there away to jump it from the engine compartment to get power to at least pop the trunk open?
