Installing LED Strip lights above the fogs and other
I just picked up some LED strip lights, and plan to install them above my fog lights. For the electrical inclined, how would I wire them? Would I cut the rubber hosing around the wire from the OEM fog lights, and splice in the new LED strip light wiring? This would be followed by eletrical tape to seal the bare wires back up It says for install to JUST connect the positive and negative wiring to power outlet.
Have any of you guys replaced the fogs with nice white, blue brighter bulbs?
These are the strip lights I picked up:
Has anyone installed the license plate LED lights, any info if it is straight forward:
Lastly, I picked up these little day time critters:

Personally I'm not a fan of the strip fogs on our cars . On other MBs it works though. I would just go with some HID low beams and fogs, as well as the LED city lights and call it a day.

Thanks Andrew, but I am not asking if they will look good, I am asking for install tips with wiring, as they are already bought.
On a side note, where did you get your fogs, they look nice and white.

I got my low beams and fogs from DDM tuning. 6,000k. They have a slight hint of blue.

Anyone know of a 6,000k LED that won't blink? I need city lights, but would rather have them match then to go with the 5,000k from AZNoptics.

Craig, I think you've seen my car with just my fogs and city lights running.
I'm running some LED's I got off ebay(totally error free) and almost pure white. They match my 6000k HID fogs and for what its worth my fogs are projector fogs.
These are the strip lights I picked up:
The strip looks like what I am running as my puddle lights. IF they are the same kind, you can trim each strip after every 3 LEDs. They should have the resistors on there already in the strip so it is just like wiring regular bulbs. Test them on your main battery before install if you'd like.
Has anyone installed the license plate LED lights, any info if it is straight forward:
I'm running pure white (~6000k) license plate LED cluster lights that I got from a vendor here for 2 years now (very bright, cops must love em). Install is fairly simple. Trunk lid plastic cover (where license plate attaches) has to come off for easy removal .

Just looked at your photos again and if I'm looking at it right, you got a pair of festoon bulbs for the plates. These are much easier to install but like all LED lights, they follow polarity so test them after installation before you close the light lenses up. Installation is as easy as 4 screws from my memory, accessible from the outside.

License plate depends on which style of LED you get. If you get the whole lens replacement, it takes a bit of work.
1. Need to remove all of the lining on the inside of the trunk lid.
2. Need to remove the trim behind the license plate which is a whole painted bracket the license plate bolts into
3. Disconnect current license plate lights and pop out, pop in new lights.
4. Put back rear license plate bracket, put on license plate, and put back trunk lid lining.
That should be about it for the rear LED lights. I was worried about scratching the paint on the rear license plate bracket, so I had the dealer install it for $100.

chawkins my south african brother.
Don't strip the wire. You can go to auto parts store and buy taps. you squeeze them onto the existing power lead to the fog light and it taps the line and gives you a lead.
LED's use nearly no power so you should be okay on draw. You can either tap both lines on the fogs or tap the hot and then run a ground from the body.
You might want to look at just tapping in at the fuse box.
Another option that could be trick is to buy one of the remote kits. It gives you a key fob to turn on and off. You can then just make a power connection under the hood.

those led strips wont have enough power to really stand out .. u should check with seller to see if they are the kind that light up when the car engine is started like that you dont have to splice your fog light harness and can just ground them to the body and run them to a 12v power source . some have the auto turn on feature .I had purchased same style setup and after mocking them up and running power to them they didnt look like what i had thought they would look like , instead i ran them on my RC car lol .. the bulbs for place make sure if turn ur lights on and try them before u install and screw them back in place you might have to flip them around

while I'm not huge fan of the adding LED strips to the car.. I'm curious to see how they look and what people are doing..
I'm not in favor of giving up a functional H11 fog/driving light for a LED look.. but would love to see addons you guys do..

Puddle Lights Plus :)
I pieced together the parts to make this and tied them up with a timed relay so I can set how long they stay on from 1 second to eternity. I currently have them setup to come on for ~10secs when a door is opened or the car is unlocked with the keyfob as that is the only time I need these lights.
Gotten a few compliments on them and I love it whenever someone walks up to me and says "I could have sworn I saw some really cute lights coming from your car just a second ago."
I'm always to reply with "Nope, it's Chuck Testa!!"
All in, has saved my feet several times and finding a dropped screw in the garage is as simple as opening a door
