Tail of the Dragon trip for charity - June 2012

My local forum is putting this together, the money is going to Guardian Angel Motorsports who donates to several children's charities like Boy's and Girl's Club, The Jimmy Fund, Starlight Foundation, etc.

Check it out

It starts at Aston Martin of New England, then heads down to Tail of the dragon. The route is for the most part kept secet but our First night is in Philly, Our 3rd day is spent on the tail of the dragon as well as the surrounding roads (during a week day) and on our way back north, we spend one night in Atlantic City

Wow i usually go there in April with my RX7
This is not for the E55's unless you plan on cruising very slowly
Tail has over 300 turns in 11 miles.

Whats cool is there are several photographers that sell you pictures of your car the day after.
Here's me two years in a row. Note the bumper change

I live about 25 minutes from the Dragon's Tail. My signature picture is from one of the times I was on it. Most of the time you can't go too fast due to traffic. The BMW club here usually has a lead/scout car with radios that helps things move along. Even going slower it's still a lot of fun.

Do a slow run over the Tail and then drive down to Helen, GA........I spend hours on 17/75 North over that mountain. Good times.

Interesting that this came along today. I was researching the Cherohala Skyway earlier today and noticed the Dragon's Tail nearby. The two would make a great loop.
dsc,
We drove through Maryville on our way to/from Boone, NC for Christmas. Nice town.
I would also suggest NC 194 as a great bit if twisty up and down asphalt. We drove a short section from Valle Crucis (Mast General Store) to Banner Elk.

There's about 4 or 5 roads i would suggest
I do this trip every year
There's a loop you can do that includes the Tail, Skyway and Hell Bender. Its about 140 miles.

Nice, I rode my pearl white anniversary edition Busa down from Ohio. The roads around the Dragon are ten times better then the actual Dragon.

the dragon is the tourist trap. try hellbender, moonshiner 28, the skyway and if you have the stones give the devils triangle a try. but be warned its not for the faint of heart!
