Hey man, congrats on the 10 second run. I saw it on cadiforums. Were you full interior on that? I had a heads/cam gen 1 v and used to hang out over there.

The cts-v is really an enjoyable car, totally worth my wife calling me "pop pop" because she thinks it is an old man's car. It will definitely step out in stock form. I expected it to be quick from a dig, but it is surprisingly fast from a roll as Tom's 7.7 60-130 with mild mods will attest to. Mods and repairs are ridiculously cheap. I am following the basic path of Litigator (congrats on the 10second run..that was a thing of beauty!) with a few differences in my mod list and feel like I am getting the parts for free compared to what I paid in the MB world. People bash the build quality, but again I have no complaints. The interior is quite comfortable and feels very sporting with the Recaros. At this point I honestly don't know if I would ever go back to a Benz.

Here's a tune-only E55 on a "heart breaker". How does it compare to a tune-only V?

2006 E55 AMG
There is zero chance in hell that is a tune only e55 on a heart breaker. My stage 3+ made 471 on a heartbreaker and Pullejo who has a stage 2+ made around 420rwhp on the heartbreaker. Most stock E55's will make around 360rwhp on the DD dyno, given there might be some freaks out there, but you are not going to pick up 63rwhp and looks to be 540rwtq with a tune only.

There is either:
1. Conversion factor on the numbers to make it similar to a dynojet reading
2. More than just a tune
3. Or the tune is SUPER aggressive?

I find it hard to believe that 65rhwp and 42rwtq is coming from just a tune (comparing this to my stock numbers which were really strong).

I would like to see the max timing too

OP SORRY FOR GETTING OFF TOPIC

OK, you can see I questioned it and wondered the same things. Really surprised more people didn't question the validity of these numbers. It's obvious the stock numbers are starting out inflated, but the gains seem unbelievable. I wonder what really happened here and what the tuner thought of 2 stock cars gaining 90ftlbs at 3K RPM with just a canned tune.

Not buying it either, tune only my car did 390rwhp/470rwtq on the DD
That is a BEAST on Buckhead's DD!

Given the appalling depreciation, running costs, unreliability, and costs to mod, why would anyone choose MB over CTS-V?

Cause MB > Cadillac. Even the MB built when Chrysler was involved and quality wasn't where it normally was. This is coming from a loonnngggg time GM lover.

Dollar for dollar today, or any time in the past you can not touch an AMG with any Cadillac. You're barely out of the 40 grand bottom limit for the new V. The original V is a joke in comparison all around compared to the e55. I looked at them then 2 minutes after seeing an E55 it was clearly a FAR better car in all aspects. Again, this from a long time GM guy.

I will move to the 2nd gen V in 2-3 years when they drop to around 30 for a nice example. Till then Cadillac has nothing dollar for dollar on AMG unless you're looking at new or almost new cars. I'll never take the hit either offering would offer up when buying new. Doesn't make sense to me with so many great cars for 1/5 the price.

Yep. When the current administration chose to void valid contracts of GM bondholders and instead give substantial ownership of GM to the UAW (which is the primary reason that GM was on its knees in the first place) as part of the so-called bailout, I vowed to never spend another dollar on any GM product. Sold our Escalade and will never again own any POS vehicle produced by Goverment Motors.

That said, my neighbor had a party this weekend and one his guests had his new ZR1 (with the S/C under glass ) parked in front of my house. Sweet; too bad it's a GM product.

Cant get into the CTS-V. Sat in all three models at the (really pathetic) Miami Beach Auto Show this week.
The CTS-Vs just dont have the presence of a E Class.
You could put ADV1 wheels on it, painted calipers, and murder it out.
But the panties will have a difficult time deciding if they are going to drop or not.

I'm sure you probably know this but MB owned Chrysler and not the other way around. Chrysler had nothing to do with MB production. But, yes, quality was way down between 2000 - 2006.

E55, CTS-V Wagon, Duc 1098R
I'm going to a V wagon this summer. The fastest guys out there are in the 9's and there are plenty of examples of folks in the 10's. Combinations are well vetted and parts are plentiful with tuning options readily available for E85, Meth, etc...

Chawkins - the fastest guys are running autos and are putting it down hard. I believe the record with the whipple is 9.68 @ 145 and with the stock blower is 9.76 @ 141. The stick guys are having a bit more trouble getting into the 9's but they are deep in the 10's and can hang as well.

Yes but mercedes had to cut corners to absorb the financial burden of Chrysler.

How much does GM still owe us taxpayers??? For that reason alone, I won't ever buy one! But I'm sure they are fun cars to drive.

Don't kid yourself. I love my E55 as much as the next guy, but a panty dropper it is not. It has nowhere near the presence of a CLS or an S class, or IMO a newer CTS-V. Of course style and appearance is completely subjective, but the virtue of our cars is in the ride, the -great for its time-interior, and the powertrain from where I see it. The only thing that gives it more of a presence than lets say... an Altima, is the Mercedes emblems affixed to its exterior.

I agree that GM should have went through bankruptcy restructuring, and we'll never get all of that bailout money back, but NOT buying GM cars isn't going to help the situation.

That said, I bought mine used so I didn't help either. hehe

I can't wait to get rid of my 05 E55 and get my 09+ CTS-V. I can guarantee I will never buy another MB ever after having this lemon of a E55 and especially after MB huge let down on E class fuel issues. I've had 3 fuel issues in just as many months. I've owned nothing but GM products before the Benz and I can understand why. I've never had a single issue out of any of the GM products I've had and have had nothing but problems out of my E55. Won't even drive it because of the fuel leaking into the car and puddling up under the car. ****ty engineering and poor design. No E class MB would ever drop panties because in my opinion and also hearing it from others, the E class looks way more like an old persons car than a CTS-V. MB lost my business with this E55 and they won't even sack up and fix all the affected cars.
