The PP uses the same boost as the Renntech tune (18.8 psi) but the Renntech tune runs the boost up at lower levels and tweaks the TQ settings to further the gains.
As for the PP package- its about 6k and it comes with the HP and TQ bumps, a Performance steering wheel, carbon fiber engine cover, and a much stiffer AMG suspension than the standard AMG one on the non PP cars.
Not everyone wants to tune their cars and take chances on a warranty issue when they can get a PP car with 550 hp and 590 tq and remain stock and warrantied. As for the LSD- the AMG option is great from the factory, its only 1700 dollars (cost) and labor isnt added since the LSD is built with the car.
I have the PP car and havent done the tune but love all the other parts of the package too including the suspension. Its a better suspension than the standard AMG one which I have on my w212 E63-- and of course its all relative to money one has and is willing to spend. Ill probably end up getting a tune done because speed and hp/tq is so addicting. But I love my CLS in stock format which is not something I have said for any of my current or prev cars.

At the MIRacle track, I believe this biturbo brute would beat the E55 dragtimes record of 10.595 by adding drags outback, braille, and full weight interior.
I will call it now, the Biturbo E63 Coupe with downpipes, tune, drag radials, race seat and pulled passenger seat with Braille outback will run a 9.99 second pass or betterin good air. I would be willing to bet on it.

Yes- Im running stock PP ECU tune currently which is 18.8 psi (peak)... I know the tune will benefit more than just in peak hp and tq as Im more of one who enjoys gains over the curve (thru the useful RPM range). I know the tune turns on the boost faster.

Another great run by SGC! These 5.5TTs are very impressive. You have to wonder how fast a similarly modded E63s will run given the lower weight. Although I'd still pick the CLS63 based on exterior and interior looks.

So much for the 5.5TT now got to save $$$ stop spending on my 55K.
Plan to get TT in 2 years.......... I do think CLS look much better than W212.

next would be down pipes, intercooler and intake...
so i'm sure it will be 750hp to 800hp..by the time Renntech is done with it.
I wont be able to afford 5.5TT for quite some time, but I'll gladly tune the 4.6TT in the mean time.

Damn Vic that is one sexy car... I love the wheels too. So you do have the more boost in that thing I'm sure it flies. I need to read more into these things cause I think I'm falling in love. LOL

I have the stock PP engine which runs 18.8 max psi- but the tune will push this car well beyond... in both hp and tq. My gains wont be as great as a non PP because I start higher with 550hp/590tq stock. Its really a great car stock off the lot.

How do you think you would match up to the non PP Renntech tuned car? Both cars are at the same boost so im guessing you would be nose to nose with it.

The stock boost comment I made was at peak (18.8)... the Renntech tune adjusts boost thru the rpm range and adjusts tq to bump the HP as well. The tune is better hands down.

What are these trannys rated for? Or is that the next upgrade for Renntech? According to the traps the car is certainly making some good power. Is it safe to assume the tune is able to increase hp and torque more proportionally in the V8 biturbo so the 7speed can handle it? I'm sure the sticky tires and LSD are a big help in laying down the power. I know with my 65 its not the first 30ft but the second 30ft that make it hard to avoid wheel spin. Any way you look at it this is a great ride with such early accomplishments already and this is only the beginning!!!

It's great to hear that Mercedes is still interested in raising the bar on new models and taking the models to a new level. Ferrari does this. the 430 killed the 360 and the 458 is killing the 430. The question always becomes, how can they continue to raise the bar !! But with their F1 technology investment, some of this stuff trickles down to the road cars and then all of us can enjoy the bennies. Nice purchase Vic. Enjoy it.
