i search for 9 weeks until I found one that I wanted. 05/06 grey, less then 40k miles with no pano for under $30k. I had to drive 5 hours each way to get it but it was well worth it!

it was pretty nice, first actual one I've sat in and checked out - I had not seen the tan color before in person, and was concerned about the miles... had 85k on the clock and their extended warranty is $3.5k for 2 years
it seems that most "good" warranties are good for vehicles under 65k on the clock... heck, CarMax has a 6 year warranty for $2.2k
they have a NICE CL55 that they just received yesterday, it's AMAZING looking!

You went to look at a car color you did not like with miles that were too high for you and a car that from searching you should know has a warranty that is out of your reach! Stupid tire kickers! there aren't many E55s around here, so whats wrong in looking? I guess everyone here just went to their Benz dealer, filled out their checklist and waited for Deiter to build their AMG and deliver it to their door - right? WRONG.

Other than the CTS wagon I just bought my wife, my last 4 cars were purchased sight unseen.
SL600 was purchased on autotrader and I hopped on a plane to Chicago to pick it up.
The Range Rover was bought on Ebay and the wife and I flew to Houston to pick it up. Drove it back and turned it into a 3 day adventure.
The R500 was purchased in California from Autotrader and shipped to me.
The E500 was purchased on eBay from Texas and shipped to me.
So yeah, sight unseen for a few cars. But then again, I'm never in the market for an older, high mileage vehicle without a warranty.

I don't think I'd buy one sight unseen. It's just me... Some years ago I was looking for an M6. Found one in the Roundel. It was in Kalispell MT. I contacted the owner. flew up there from SoCal to see it with a check (just in case). Drove it home.... Pretty simple!
