no no no.
A 55k mile 65 is most likely not going to be warranty-able. If anybody is dumb enough to do it, it will not be an exclusionary warranty and it will run you $6k at least.
You probably got about $16k for your car.
Take that money, and buy something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...item336fd3d671
If you need, take a loan out for the difference to "build your credit".
Its still an AMG, its still a Mercedes, its still a nice V8, but its not a $180k car with ABC, expensive coil packs and all the rest.
Best part, you won't have a massive loan to pay off while still in school.
Buying an expensive car with a big loan is possibly the worst thing you could possibly do while in school. What about savings? Do you really want to be car poor? Do you want to be the kid living at home with a CL65? pretty cheesy if you ask me.

of course, what 22 year old doesn't.
Except you live at home are in school, can't cover the purchase price, much less repairs or that warranty coverage.
I want to get into a new aventador...but just cause I want to doesn't make it a good idea.

I have no clue why you didn't just get a personal loan for a used motor on your e55.
Now you have no car, and the only one you want is a 7 year old $180k car that is as pricey as some ferraris to fix, all while living at your parents house or are in school.
Most people in that situation drive 2004 Honda Civics and don't look down their nose at C55s.

If you're trying to "build credit", you're not getting a deal with a lease. Leases are only good for write-offs and people with very good credit and finances. I have to agree with what the others are saying here. Your best option is to fix the E55 or get something regular like an Accord until you finish school and get a real job.

I hate to be a dick here but you know how the economy failed because people like yourself felt entitled and wanted to keep up an image. You are adding to the finance problem in america.
If you think leasing a 7 year old car is smart then go for it. Leasing a car is only smart when you can write it off, or in the off chance the value of the car goes up unlike the loan maker has predicted. You still have to pay to fix and if you dont keep up with the maintance when you turn it in the lease company will ding you for it and you loose all the money you put down! But hey do as you please! Go buy a TERMINATOR COBRA if you wanna go fast and kill yourself.
Dude just live within your means you are 22! even if you own an AMG at 27 you are in an elite class. You drive that CL65 not one person will hesitate calling it out as Daddies car. For me thats the ultimate insult

You're misunderstanding my message. He's in school still. This means whatever work he is doing is not likely making him much money (we've all been there). Once he does finish school, he can get a real (grown-up) job in his field of stuff, thus making more money. After some time establishing himself, he can afford toys like AMGs.

I think he got tired of his E55 otherwise why not fix the car ?! His car has many upgrade, The exhaust worth more than $1500, Forgerstar F14 not long ago...... He must felt tired of his E55 otherwise would not looking to "Upgrade" For me, E55 to CL65 is a Upgrade. Fixing the E55K should cost less than $7K and CL65 will cost $40K + tax + warranty..... $50K ??
This doesn't make sense at all in financial point of view. Brakes are never cover in the warranty so rotors and brake in the front cost $2K easy ? those are call basic maintenance. Chrysler warranty cost me $3k for my E55 3 years so I am very sure CL65 would cost at least $4k to $5K. No matter what other said I think you have already made your mind. Good luck.

What kind of world are we living in where our High School and College students dont love AMERICAN Muscle cars!!! COME ON!
I would love a MAGNUM SRT8 in College! Any SRT8 or a G8GT or a G8 GXP. I blame this all on Rap videos

My point was that its incredibly difficult to get jobs these days as a recent grad. There is a likelihood that he may not get that real full time job (like he may have planned) and then will struggle even more to survive, much less keep up with a cl65

I wish I had C55 or even C230 when I was 22. However, I think he already made up his mind for CL65 because he was talking about it few weeks back after E55 engine went out. My only suggestion is Fix the E55 while drive Honda Accord. Because CL65 will make you cry in term of financial.
Here let me break down the payment for 5 years 60 months.
Since you don't have big credit used car normally get 8% interest.
$40K ==> about $800 monthly payment for 60 months
Insurance ==> CL65 might cost your at least $150 per month
Gas ==> $300
Repair + maintenance average ==> $150 (very conservative)
Total monthly payment and expense ==> $1400 Cash
If you can afford $1400 cash every month for the next 5 years then Go for it. But I am pretty sure $150 won't cover the maintenance monthly.

well I can quickly see where this is going and it seems 99% of people here and against that idea. And honestly, I agree with them. I just don't get your logic behind this...
It's your call now Johncy. I say just keep the E55 and save yourself some money.

I got your message and was being sarcastic. Further, I agree completely with your message.

Many companies won't warranty the V12 (that might be a hint) and if they do, its like $6k+
Its the old biscuit that just cause the car is now $40k doesn't mean repairs aren't priced like they would be on the $180k car it was new.
