Guys

I started the thread on my DIY Fuel rail build. Within 20 minutes of posting it became apparent that I'd pissed some people off. Ordinarily if I was the only one taking that crap that would have been OK but when my friends here in Houston have their phones blown up because of the post I removed it so as not to cause them any further stress.

Basically I was never contacted directly, except for one TROLL and I know who that was but several of my friends got texts and calls from PI$$ED off parties accusing me of threatening their livelihoods. Well that is NOT my intent as I was showing the community what I was doing and had 0 to do with commercial gain of any kind. If it caused such a reaction I ceratinly read a LOT into that.

As far as the fuel rail is concerned I will document the build process, hardware required, exact costs and post that up on another forum where this kind of reaction to what one person is doing to educate the community doesn't occur.

Ahh, that sounds very familiar. I too caused an issue this past fall by removing a couple decals from my sled, and got blown up via email myself

Went through the same thing when I posted pics of intake scoops I had made.

I have the transparent trolling emails too. After explaining that I didn't plan on selling them or hurting anyone's business, it wasn't an issue. Hatchet was buried.

Read this today about SOPA on the Daily Caller and couldn't help but think of the fuel rail topic....
First, copying isn’t theft.
If I steal your bicycle, the harm done to you is not that I now have a bicycle to ride, but that you don’t and all the time you took working to earn money to acquire that bicycle is gone too. But if I copy your bicycle, we both have something to ride.
In economic terms, copying increases the supply of a good that’s available to consumers whereas theft is only redistributive. That’s a big distinction conveniently glossed over by the IP laws supporters, who generally want you to believe that copying an MP3 and stealing a CD are the same thing.
The second major problem is that you can’t actually own an idea unless it stays in your head.
The minute you share an idea with anyone, it’s no longer yours in any meaningful sense. Ideas replicate, mutate and evolve when they’re shared from one person to the next. This is what Matt Ridley (author of The Rational Optimist) calls ideas having sex, and this is exactly what has taken human culture and material wealth out of the Stone Age and produced the amazing standards of living we all enjoy today. New ideas in art, music, science and technology — or in any other field — don’t come fully formed out of nothing; they’re incrementally built on the shoulders of previous inventors and creators.
So when you try to stop people from sharing ideas (which is exactly what SOPA and PIPA would do), you’re putting a damper on the spontaneously ordered innovation that will make our lives even better in the future.
You’re also setting up incentives for some creators to spend more time and money suing people ($31 billion a year, according to Stephan Kinsella) than they spend producing better-quality products. In this way IP law stifles creativity and keeps potential innovators chained down.

Took them off the car when I extended my CPO by 2 years through MBUSA. They just stand out a bit too much for my tastes.

I would encourage you to take a look at the TTM ones because I've never heard of an unsatisfied customer when it comes to the scoops. I just wanted mine to be aluminum.

Crazy me, I thought these boards were here to help each other out not for us to be pimped out to overpriced vendors.

Guess what, if I can show someone how to save money by doing the work themselves I will share it. That is what these boards were originally for! Seems were all just being pimped out to the vendors though... Sad. Very, very sad.

First off, this fuel rail type is on the SLR, so it has been around for years, nothing new there.

I have the fuel setup on my car, and it works. Now the question becomes for a performance enthusiast, is it hard to duplicate if you want to make it on your own, no it is not.

The next issue at hand is, why was the other thread deleted, simple, supporting vendors and site sponsors pay a monthly premium to legitimately sell products on here, when members step on vendors toes, members get the whip cracked on them by moderators. The mods get heat from the vendors to do so, it is simple politics 101 homeys.

No MODS were involved in the deletion of the thread. I deleted it myself simply to not put friends in a postion that they were uncomfortable with because of the way they were talked to about my thread.

Haters crazy
Sooo unless something is bought from a vendor, we cannot post threads about it? Or make any threads about customization etc? Confused... has censorship gone that far? This board is becoming more like other dreaded forums (no names). Now car enthusiasts are so paranoid, that let alone mods deleting threads, members are deleting themselves because their worried about other members/vendors talking ****?

Btw I mean no disrespect to Bruce or TTM, he is a solid guy, with solid products, and he is ALWAYS available for advice no matter what... I am just curious about how this and past situations are playing out, not only for this fuel rail, but for past instances like injectors, intakes, headers and so forth... So much for healthy competition. Hope I didn't violate the "TOC" lmao...
