Anyone make a polyurethane trans mount for the E55?
I have a noise like something bumping around right under the shifter area under the car at times and I suspect its the trans mount. I hear how these cars love to eat motor and trans mounts so I figure a poly mount would be a good idea to throw in while I'm looking around down there looking things over.
I've never bought a car and had to park it so soon after so I'm itching to do SOMETHING to it. Looking for cheap maintenance/minor upgrades to kill a lil time and not much money for now. Probably gonna throw new belts at it and possibly fresh plugs even though I only have 51k miles on it.

I have a shop that may make some Polyurethane motor mounts and a trans mount for my E55. I know they will hold up a lot longer than our OEM mounts but I wanted to know if anyone else has tried them and how the ride quality would be with them. I am putting in the kleeman headers so I want to change the mounts while there is room.

I guess I don't want too much vibration in the cabin, but it sure would be nice to have mounts that did not need to be changed every couple of years. Anyone with experience with Poly mounts? My shop can make a set. He builds really fast american street cars including my turbo charged ls408 truck. He does not think I would be unhappy with the mounts but it seems most on here think it would be a bad idea. If I stay with factory mounts does anyone have a part number for the OEM mounts or a good aftermarket mount? I plan on doing the motor and trans mounts.
thanks!
thanks!

I just had to replace mine too! I think we really could use polyurethane mounts, especially on modded AMG's. I'm willing to give up some of the smoothness for something that will last the life of the car...

I don't mind a lil vibration if it will last. Heck I drive an older diesel pickup truck every day and you can see one of my other cars in my avatar. I really doubt I'd even notice a lil more vibration. lol
If this was a $80-90 thousand dollar car still I'd frown on vibrations. I got the thing for low $20's with the intentions of having a really fast sedan. If we can deal with the loud exhaust a lil bit of vibration shouldn't be a big deal. Motor mounts would be more noticeable then just a trans mount but I'm sure it can't be all that bad. I'd def buy em and try em.
Maybe one of us can give energy suspension a buzz and see if they have any interest.

I'm shooting energy suspension an email and linking em to this thread.
Anyone know how many other models share these same trans/motor mounts? Are all the "55" cars using the same motor mounts? Trans mount seems to be shared across a number of Mercedes cars.

I may have my shop fab some up and give them a try. If I don't like them I will just have to go back to stock. He made some mounts for another guy that owns a highly modded cts-v (previous model). I will see how he likes them.

How timely, I just did my motor mounts today! I think we definately need a poly mount set that will survive ( I have done 3 sets in just over a year). I actually kept the crapped out ones to see about casting a mold for poly ones. The trans mount can definately be filled with liquid poly, and really isn't much or a problem

Only that the M/M's that everyone sells are for non amg cars. They fit but don't last. Pelican parts does carry the correct one, It's got 8's in the # and costs twice as much.
