185 pulley with stock fuel system
I'm in the process of ordering a pulley for the CLS55 and want to make sure I don't burn cylinder #8. I have a stock fuel system (for now) and want to know if I can run the 185mm without issues? I will be having OE do the tune at the time of install. I was also considering popping in the bigger injectors to be safe, thoughts??

Always a smart idea to add more fuel and if you have the funds, do it all at the same time. I am just now installing better fueling and have ran a 185 for over a year now without any issues. But if you do multiple WOT burst at max speed, say good bye to number 8

Bad idea in my opinion. I upgraded cooling and fueling before ever touching boost. I've been modded for over 2 years and runs like a top. Frankly I think people who say pulley without fueling is fine are playing with fire.

My question at this point would be: are the 550 injectors alone (without upgraded fuel rail) enough? Also because I plan on taking this car to ''BEAST STATUS'' should I just go with the 190mm pulley or play it safe with the 185mm? I will also be installing the MBH LT and the MBH Monster heat exchanger at the time of tuning...

Not much difference in fuel demand between a 185mm and 190mm. As mentioned before, long tube headers, tune and 180 and up pulley will put you in the 520 and up HP range. That is a 100 hp gain and that requires larger injectors on most any engine format. Stock fuel rail is fine for that power range.

Let me make this as clear as I can "ANYBODY DOING A PULLEY/TUNE OF ANY SIZE NEEDS BIGGER INJECTORS...PERIOD!" Anybody telling you otherwise is an idiot who should not be anywhere near an engine.

I do infact. Kleemann doesn't suggest any fueling mods ever, even on a K4 car, so I don't really think that is an acceptable recommendation. Bottom line is no fueling upgrades means the only person responsible for #8 going boom is yourself. Rule number 1 for any FI car is more boost=more fuel. While stock injectors have some overhead( mostly due to the fuel rail pressure we run), do you really want to have just enough, or plenty of fuel when you are talking about a 7-10K engine repair bill? You want to run more boost, and have your engine live to fight another day, you need injectors and colder plugs.

how come engines blow up in the dead winter and they dont in the summer heat? I think max safe boost on stock injectors is around a 172-178mm pulley and the tune has alot to do with how your engine can hold up.
If you are tuned for max power in the summer and then the temp drops 60d and your car is running lean as **** then there is no injectors that will save your engine.
add a **** load of timing advance for braging rights and that safe zone is almost gone.

Very unlikely for a motor to go boom with a 168 pulley if it's properly tuned. Heck I had a 168 on my car, no tune for almost a year with no problems... Injectors bit overkill. Fuel rail sure why not...

You have that backwards Bro. Injectors before rail. Higher flow rail will do nothing for static injectors. It may be unlikey ( as in we haven't heard much about 168s blowing) but a maxed out tune with tons of timing would be in the red zone on a long 3rd, 4th pull. Again for $500 why chance it

Quick question on this subject when you add lets say the 550's to a car with a 175 pulley MBH LT's and a tune, will the car need a new file for the injectors?

is this something that has to be done before you run the car again...i mean i may be installing a 82mm T-body and EC injectors shortly....do i have to get a re-tune before i take the car home or can i baby her home and do the re-tune later on?
