My clean block, new pulley, new headers and 850HP

Here is one of my blocks that has been prepped and ready to go out to be machined for sleeves. The stock aluminum bores will be totally removed from the block ,, just like in this vid. at bottom of thread.

New 195mm, to go with the new lightweight/smaller SC pulley and idler pulleys. Total drive will be about 207mm when you add te 195mm to the new light , smaller SC pulley.

New custom headers,, Same as a few other members but no down pipe, so I can hang turbos, when the time comes. Still sizing turbos but real cloe now.

Check out the custom tig welded pyramid in the collector. I am not aware of any headers made for the 55 motor , than can flow as much as these headers. 1 7/8 primaries and the collector angle and size allows max flow of boosted gases. Just have to weld the large thck turbo flange on or maybe just a ball end flange ,, until turbos get worked out. Goal is to get back on road first...

Gotta a feeling a super friendly Exotic/V12 God 1/4 mile showdown is in the works.

Winner is the one who hooks up the most in the 1/4. Be funny watching E55's peddling it down the 1/4.

We need to PPV that puppy!!!!

That would be fun. Cars may weigh the same with his big V12.

1 7/8" primaries are probably not going to be the best for a turbo...especially if you are going to run twins, as you seem to suggest... just my .02

Yeah that is to big, it shouldn't be bigger than 1 3/4" and 1 5/8" could even work since this engine is only 331 cubic inch and using twin turbo. I don't know what the diameter of the exhaust ports are but it should be as close to that size as possible and if you have crazy big ported exhaust ports then match them and then immediately taper down to the sizes mentioned above. Guys use 1 3/4" primaries on bigger engines than the E55 on cars making 1000whp and even higher and do 1 3/4" tapered down to 1 5/8" to a 2.5" collector then make your exhaust real big out the back of the turbo. 1 7/8" primaries are gonna drop exhaust gas velocity (more lag and less bottom end power/torque) and not make any more top end power.

What kind of power are looking for anyway? I would definitely reconsider using those big primaries.

With just a turbo engine, I would agree with your to large of header scenario but this is a unique twin charged set up, so remember my exhaust will be under boost /pressure. Turbos will only be doing part of the job on this set up. All I a saying, is this is a new set up for our AMG`s and some out of the box methods will be used.

My new sleeved block is coming along now. In the meantime, fitting a spare block and heads into my engine bay,so I can start to fabricate my turbo setup. Also will be putting a single turbo on GL450 in the near future and have some quick short cut ideas on this set up.

What size are the factory head bolts, or are they studs? Your def gonna want some high quality studs and depending on the size look into having the block/heads machined to accept a bigger stud. 4 studs per cylinder plus big boost can lead to pushing water. Wondering if you've considered that aspect and what you've found?
