I'm kinda curious if this is normal or not, I usually drive my E55 in Sport mode, when you step on the gas all the way down going around 100 more or less when you let go of the pedal is it normal that the car stays in high RPM's slowing down? sometimes Im about 6,000rpms and I let go of the pedal and the rpm's start to come down, I thought it was suppose to shift down instead of taking all that stress by going down in rpms. Can someone explain to me is that normal or if that works like that when you are in the sport mode. Thanks,

I've had this happen at lower speeds
This has happened to me several times with my E500 at lower speeds. For example, say I'm going 40mph and mash the gas pedal to the floor then start braking hard at about 60-65 mph, the revs will stay high as I start slowing down rather than the transmission upshifting. I think this is programmed in to the transmission because it is the ideal scenario for going into corners and coming out hard without upshifting and costing power.

my experience is the same as ajoe. it's like the tranny stays in the lower gear a little longer instead of immediately upshifting. at first, i wondered what was up, but now i like it - it acts more like a manual and doesn't assume you always want to upshift!!
