I saw one E55 and an S65 there. I left around 12:15 though when one of the cars spewed oil all over the track. Should have never raced his car IMO. Originally Posted by Nachtsturm

Anyway, if you did make it then you probably had a blast hot lapping. I must have made six runs in a row. My best was 11.91 at 119 mph, but it was cold and the traction wasn't very good with my street tires. I'll be getting drags for next season for sure.
Here's one with me and the EVO. I thought for sure the car was going to be fast. Maybe he had some problems. You can see the non-existent line of cars behind me. I probably could have gotten 2 or 3 more runs in before leaving if the one car hadn't leaked oil everywhere.

Nice car bro. At this point with the weather and all, it will most likely be next spring before we all get together again. Keep an eye out and join us for sure when the spring weather comes.Originally Posted by tsimon123

Nice! I have run a few Evos. The fastest was 11.9 and I got him by 4 100s. they can definitely run. Sounds like you need a set of drags as do I.Originally Posted by HoozyerdaddyC63

Is that GLD?
I ended up running my personnel best and ran a 12.9 in my CLK55. My friend ran a 13.2 in his C55.
Really had no traction issues but then again I don't have a 63,

Byron's track prep is always good IMO.
I was at Byron from 9:15am - 12:15pm. I only saw 2 other Mercedes and neither of them were a CLK. What time did you get there? What color is your car?Originally Posted by Nachtsturm

I thought I saw a 2004 E55, but it may have been a C55. There was also a silver S65 running with a bunch of his friends who had Grand Nationals.
Oh, and grats on your PB. I got mine as well.

Since I don't drive a lot and only in emergency if it rains I will prob get street drags and just use them for regular driving and go racing every weekend. Originally Posted by cal1

Here's the video of my 11.913 race. I got a good launch here.

I was there with a 2013 silver 5.0, and my friends red C55. I never saw a S65, or a C63. or a EVO or GN haha. Originally Posted by HoozyerdaddyC63

You are talking about the 4th of November right?
We got there early, car numbers 10-12.
Did you see the GT500 vs new Gen Camaro and the rematch?
I was there from open to about 3pm.
Thanks, congrats on yours as well.

LOL - looks like we missed each other by a day. I posted I was going "tomorrow" on 11/2 and went on 11/3. You read and replied on 11/3 probably thinking I meant tomorrow 11/4.Originally Posted by Nachtsturm

Oh well. Maybe next season we can go on the same day. :P
This weekend I am going to get on a dyno at Performance Autowerks in Plainfield and see what power I have getting to the wheels. I think there may be a leak or something which is robbing me of power so hopefully I can get tested and see if there is one.

That was me you met there with my friends Grand Nationals. They ran 11.2, not bad for their size. My wheels spinning too much so I only did 13.4. It was nice to meet you.

Same here. Gorgeous cars, both the Merc and GN's. I left because I knew I wasn't going to get better times. I've got my car in the shop for an intake manifold leak so next time I'm at the track will be a whole different story.Originally Posted by tsimon123

Byron is no closed, but GLD is open until it snows so maybe we'll get lucky and have one more nice weekend before it closes.
I'll post back here if I end up heading out there for some runs.
Otherwise I hope to see everyone in April for the next season. I'll be heading out to Byron and getting my food on at Kronos.

I been wanting to get one last trip to the track before I put my car into to winter mod mode. I may be going to GLD tomorrow 11/18 as the weather forecast looks great. Anyone interested in meeting around 12pm???

on my way to GLD should be their at 1pm
Hey Chicago guys! I will be looking at some E55's this weekend and would like to make a purchase. I would love to get a PPI as well, do you guys know any reputable shops near the n.w. burbs that can inspect the E55 for me?

You are very wise to check out the car before purchasing. The dollars can click up damn fast on these beasts. Hopefully some of the Chicago peeps will chime in. If not, I recommend you take any prospective purchase to an MB dealer. They will pull codes and do a general inspection for you. Although undoubtedly more expensive than an indy, I still think it would be money well spent. Originally Posted by Spaceman838

I did a dealer PPI. Very good money spent to have some assurance on what your getting. Speedriven is a independent shop as well that can help you out.
Thanks for the input guys. I was thinking an independent shop would be better. Dealer will always find things that need replacement even though it might not be necessary. Any idea on how much I should pay? Thanks.

If it was me I would want to know about everything. I can decide what needs to be done right away or what an wait. Etc. the dealer will providing a listing for everything needed w a quote of the associated part numbers and labor estimate. This was very valuable for me. I used mine as a check list for items I wanted to take care of.
I think I paid about $150

You bring up a valid point. Any idea on how long the inspection usually takes?

You may want to ask the dealer what the difference is between a PPI and a CPO inspection. Im not suggesting that they mark it as a CPO, just do a more rigorous check. I had a PPI on mine and am actually rather disappointed in what they missed. if they will do a full CPO inspection go that route, I know BMW offers it.

Cool, I'll keep that in mind.Originally Posted by Petej
