Airstrip Side-by-Side Runs SL55 vs ...............
I thought you guys might enjoy some of my side-by-side runs at the Airstrip Attack by Shift-S3ctor. I know a lot of you are, or going to be making the switch to the new V8 twin turbo platform and I can see why. Mercedes did a great job with this new engine
The new CLS63 at the event was such a beast with ONLY a tune (V-tech) . I thought I had an idea how fast these cars were with tune only but I had no idea. We didnt match up too well at the start going to 50mph before the cones starting the race so I had the jump on him but the story did change around 130mph when he was reeling me in big time. This CLS had so much top end and was pulling hard. Fortunately for me we were running out of runway or else it would have been a huge loss.

Here is a pic of my race with CLS63 that was taken by a photograhper by the end of the runway. You can see how close it was near the end while hitting roughly around 150mph

The M157 engine is amazing--- Turbo tuning is so easy. I havent tuned mine yet (I have two) but will be soon.

To answer your question yes and no. Everything is the same mod wise. The only thing different is that I was at full street weight (I didnt take out my seats, etc) and instead of my light weight drag wheels/Hoosier combo I had on my semi-heavy HRE wheels (monoblocks). The tune was updated by Jeremy @OE Tuning 100 octane file a few months ago.

No offense if it was one of our guys or your friends. You could see it die with each long shift.

Loudest whine i have ever heard coming out of 55k. Sal, can you share the performance gains made using the higher octane fuel. 91 vs 100 oct..
I've got Jeremys little black box, I can switch tunes, just curious about he numbers your car made between fuels..thanks!
I think gearing played a large role in the CLS63 catching you on the top end.

But Sal's car and the 63TT are extremely quick. Don't think I could have beat either even if I had been better prepared.

That's my SL65. I was totally heat soaked as I failed to take care of the car during staging. IATs where 180F during staging. I also launched with ESP fully on in 3rd, letting the car down shift to 2nd at the cone. After the run Sal gave me some pointers.

The SL65 is my dream car V12 Biturbo ! that's what kept my wonder what happened about this run.

Thanks
From what I heard the DA was around 2,000' to 3,000' that day.
Thanks
Like always the GTR was a beast and taking everything down. There was also 900hp Ford GT that was doing very well along with the 1,000 HP Evo but he later blew a head gasket.

The difference between fuels I think was around 25whp but I really dont remember the tq. Let look for that info.

Serge! Thanks for everything bro and always willing to help me out. I'm sure your other clients at the event where happy to see you as will just in case something went wrong. Thanks again
It was a lot of fun. Always wanted to attend an Airstrip side-by-side run event ever since those M5boards videos started popping up years back.
