Flood their advertising pictures. That's what everyone looks at. They post one or two a day it seems. I was hitting em regularly for a bit with links to jalopnik and the NHTSA investigation and number.

This may be regurgitated news, but worth re-posting just in case.

Texas law firm Wigington Rumley Dunn & Ritch along with Georgia law firm Conley Griggs Partin team up against MB. There is a form to contact them, which I just finished a few minutes ago.

http://www.mercedesfueltankclassaction.com/

Contact: http://www.mercedesfueltankclassaction.com/contact/

Is there anyone in the SoCali area interested in starting up another class action suit?
I'm in.

Yes flood FB and the new ads.

I was on my way home tonight and the E55 had just over 1/4 tank. Hmmm...I said to myself that I have to drive 80 or so miles tomorrow I should just put some gas in the car. So I put 9.5 gals in the tank and went home to save a trip tomorrow.

.

Guess what? The garage smells like gas and the fuel level is just at 3/4.

.

7 dealer repairs since 52k miles on this POS and even when they replaced everything the friggin car wont stay sealed more than 6 or 7 months at a time. I cant even put 3/4 of a tank and leave it in the garage. WTF

Wife just laughed at me and asked if I was going to CarMax tomorrow for the buy bid on the $90,000 dollar POS. Then she said head over to Audi and pick up her new A8L with the 4.0tt. Nice work MBUSA

.

I hit an ad this morning laying out what is going on and throwing MB/AMG under the bus and they saw it and apparently didn't like it as I was deleted. I linked the Jalopnik lawsuit article, mentioned the NHTSA ODI investigation and the number and generally throwing them under the bus for how they treat the owners of their top of a model line.

KEEP POSTING STUFF. They obviously don't like it and any thorn we can put in their side over this is another reason for them to fix it. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

They replied to my post on FB, twice, giving me a # to call to inquire about recalls to my vehicle. They have since deleted their replies and replaced it with the message below:

"we'll have a Customer Assistance Center representative reach out to you about your concerns. Could you please direct message us your contact information and VIN? There's a "Message" button at the top of our Page. Thanks."

I say keep at it. They're trying to play PC and that they care. We should all hit it and see how they respond. All they can do is say no. Maybe a payout to shut you up? Really really doubt it though. They keep kicking sand in our face this is a way to do it back.

Oldie but goodies. Remember when MBUSA said "there is no way for fuel to leak in the cabin of a E55"

Never mind the fuel wicks up the electrical lines, soaks into the fiber sheath around the electrical lines, then soaks up the stupid gasket material at the gap in the cover shown then presto. Fuel starts to soak in the sound deadner material under the seat.

Ahhh, those were the days. I could walk into any Ford dealer and buy the best Pinto death trap for $3500. Today it takes $90000 and your local MBUSA dealer and they will strap a 500hp beast of an engine to the death trap and send you packing.

Here is another angle of this situation. That wiring is not at a extreme angle and the fuel just wicks up into that fiber sheath around the elec lines then wicks right into the cabin. Easy as pie.

Where is NHTSA? Where is MBUSA? Facebook anyone?

I'm still bombing their FB. They've shown they see it and don't like it. Keep ruffling feathers all over MBUSA till they fix this defect. Any way you can be a thorn in their side I say. They've already told us to **** off how many times. What else is there to lose?

Same problem here!

1st time post long time lurker. I've had this problem off & on for a couple of years. Initially I thought I had spilled a little gas on myself or stepped in an unseen puddle of gas since the smell was so strong. When the smell went away I assumed I was correct. Then I noticed the pattern when filling the tank.

The car had the fuel sensor replaced in Sep 2010 and it was known that wasn't the problem but was the "fix" they had. A few months later it came back but sometimes the smell was strong & other times not so much.

Fast forward between driving & getting dizzy/sleepy and occasionally getting headaches after driving (recently) . The problem is much worse. Mercedes of Coral Gables just quoted me 6k to replace the fuel tank and rear seat because apparently my seat is saturated and the smell won't go away.

For the life of me I can't figure out how Mercedes thinks it's acceptable to allow owners to drive around with vapors that are obviously a fire hazard let alone a known carcinogen.

I filed my complaint with the NHTSA on 11/10/2012. My ODI is 10483923.

I t also seems interesting that the repair prices are all over the map from the various members on the forum.

There are dealers out there that will pay for parts and ask you to cough up the labor. MB of Pompano and MB of Fort Lauderdale.
I would find out where the leak is coming from and start from there.
I had a freind perform the smoke test on my car and determined it was coming from a crack in the fuel sender assembly.

Sounds to me MB of Coral Gables quoted you the whole kit and kaboodle.

Print out your ODI number, go to one of those dealers and ask your SA what they can do for you. There are reports in one of these three threads where dealers are authorized to do that if a client gets "visibly concerned"
My kids are grown up and its just me and the better half running around in it.
Pm if you need help
Im local

Do you have in writing that the dealership wants to replace the rear seat? MBUSA is taking the stance that the seat getting fuel on it is impossible as there's the lil trap door to keep the fuel out. NHTSA would probably love to have paperwork from a dealership showing they want to replaced the seat due to the leak soaking into the seat.

Maybe one of the people that have had contact with the ODI investigator can pass along this info by email? Seems like a pretty big deal as it's coming right from an authorized dealer when MBUSA says it's just not possible.

I sure do. The estimate isn't very thorough but it is succinct. The exact words are "FUEL TANK LEAKING AND REAR SEAT CONTAMINATE WITH GAS"

I feel for ya Luk. I have been blasting MB for over 4 years with regards to this matter. I also posted those pics above of my personal car simply showing how fuel gets into the cabin.

I find it interesting that

1. MB is getting by with this coverup by saying its impossible for fuel to leak in the vehicle. Complete BS

2. MB is telling NHTSA that its the dealers fault that leaks are appearing because the dealers are not following proper repair procedures. More BS

3. MB is telling NHTSA that there is no problem because we dont have any warranty claims. Well duh you tell your AMG owners to pound sand so that you dont have to show a claim. The BS is getting even deeper

Luk, let me ask you this. Do you feel safe in your car? Are you ready to take action on Facebook and other social media? Do you really think that its the local dealers fault that cracks develop in these sensors and its faulty dealer service?

Mother of God people! This is complete BS. Where the hell is NHTSA? Is the lead engineer of NHTSA driving a AMG loaner or something?

And finally, Luk unless your ready to pay the 6k today. Take lots of pictures, video any any evidence of your situation. Take out the back seat and soaked insulation. Keep the gas tank under 3/4 tank. Let the seat air out for a couple of weeks and apply chemicals to get the smell out. I think its baking soda or something. Get hold of GregMB on this forum as he is in touch with NHTSA engineer. Send all your pics to NHTSA.

Never ever fill your car past 3/4 and enjoy it for what it is.

I took these today showing my current ride height for another thread. I love driving the car but its days may be doomed. Wife asked again last night when she get the S8.

Yeah, MB USA gave the lead NHTSA engineer a new SL63 in bright red.

Then gave him the lead spot in the new MB Christmas to remember commercial.

He can been seen nightly riding off into the moonset saying....

"Ho, Ho, Ho"

Looks like MB is issuing a recall for faulty fuel filters which could crack and lead to a fire
Unfortunately this doesn't apply to our cars.

Why can't MB handle building a safe fuel system with all the money they spend on R&D over all these years?
