anyone know which radiator this is?

This is from a 03 E55

The one under the bumper says BEHR a2115002402 (not sure if this is the heat exchanger??)

Im trying to identify if this car has the old valeo radiator or the newer BEHR one.

Your looking at the A/C Condenser there. The radiator is behind it. If you look carefully along the sides you can see the radiator side tanks crimped onto the radiator core behind the A/C Condenser. The way those crimps look will let you know which radiator you have. One has like square crimps on it (some describe it kind of like a castle), and forgot what the other looks like. The easiest angle I found to look at mine was sticking my head down at about the level of the middle of the radiator near the passenger headlight and you can get an angle to see the radiator from there.

I'm not 100% sure as its a pain to dig up the old threads with this info for some reason... but if you see these rectangular/squared off crimps on the tank I believe its the bad one. Search some more to be sure as I found this once before after a half hour on search but can't find it right now.

Hmm hard to tell which part i am looking for. I did do alot of searches... but difficult to tell specifically the spot.

Whats your thoughts on buying an 03. This is the main reason for my hesitation. If getting an 03 would i pretty much have to assume I should get a glycol test at inspection and change radiator and fluid?

It seems like the glycol contamination is a common issue, but not sure how common it really is because people dont come to post hey my transmission is working fine.

Going through this process now myself. I have an EAARRRLY 03. I swear I think mine was made late 02 or something. Have to check the build date again...I forget now. Gotta be one of the first groups of them to roll off the line.

Anyway, it's so early I guarantee its the bad one. Just trying to confirm.

Bad ones are named Valeo. Newer ones are Behr.

Supposedly if you remove a few of the torx bolts and plastic locking pins etc in the picture below and pry up the middle enough, you can see on top of the radiator.

Will let ya know what I find out.

I installed a separate oil cooler for the Trans. Bypassed the radiator entirely. Improved cooling as well as eliminated concern of engine coolant mixing with trans fluid. Placed it just behind the middle engine hood latch support in front of Power Steering cooling lines. Only drawback may be that the fluid will take longer to warm up on cold days (no longer has the assistance of the engine coolant to assist with warming).
