rubbing problems on my fronts

I've been having a rubbing problem on my front fender wells for years and don't know how to correct it. Any help would be appreciated. I am running 8.5x20 HREs in the front with 245/30/20 PS2s. What do you guys think about running a skinnier tire on the fronts? Or maybe just a different brand of tires that might have a slightly different cut? My car is not lowered but I constantly have problems when I am turning and going over small dips. It doesn't seem right. Thanks in advance.

check your offset...there's no reason you should be rubbing with that set-up if it has the correct offset. as a point of referrence, i'm lowered significantly with 255/35/19's and don't rub under any circumstance!

front rub

@chiromikey - I spoke to HRE and darkside motoring and they said the same thing, I should not have any problem. I also spoke to Darkside Motoring, who I ordered the HRE's through, and they said the same thing. What brand of tires are you running?

@loungn14 - what do you like/dislike about the pzero nero? HRE and Darkside to me to run a pirelli or conti since the cut of the tire is slightly less boxy than the PS2.

@crhait - I've been very careful for years, but I continue to have this problem and I'm so over it. I've had to have my fenders repaired and painted multiple times due to the rubbing.

I'm thinking about driving down to HRE and having them inspect the rims to see if they were cut with the incorrect offset. BTW, my fenders are rolled.

front rub

@bnzuovr - I don't know the offset for sure. I can probably call Tito or Vince from HRE and ask them. When I asked Tito earlier, all he told me was that my setup was their bread and butter setup that they use for all the 55's. ?????

What's the max offset or standard offsets that people use on their fronts?

i've run front offsets from 35 to 40 on several different 19x8.5" rims with 255/35/19 's from slightly to significantly lowered with no problem. i've also run several different tire brands...michelin ps2's, toyo t1r's, nitto invos, and hankook v12's.

So the higher the offset the less agressive sorry if its a silly question? or how is this calculated if you don't mind me asking?

yes...if you're definition of "aggressive" is as close to the outer fender lip as possible. basically, the higher the offset, the more the rim is pulled inward.

usually, rims will have the offset stamped somewhere on the inner lip area. typically, it's a number in millimeters preceded by "et".

is it rubbing on the inside or outside of the fender?

not the "wrong" offset, just takes a little finesse to make them fit I'm running a 19x8.5 et18 offset with no rubbing and slammed. but yes, your lower offset is probably what is causing you too rub.

damn, that's impressive! i'm shocked you got that to work without stretching a smaller width tire...or maybe you did. what size tire?

Try running Hankook EVO V12's, the tires are more rounded from the sidewall to tread.. For my 20's, I was running 235/35/20 and it was perfect.. Yes it's stretched, but it prevented the rubbing..

front rub

@amg_rl - it rubs on the outside fender

@chiromikey - HRE says that is the correct offset for that wheel I may drive down to HRE to have them checked out

@sytfu_rick - I was kind of afraid of the Hankook's. I saw a few bad reviews on the forum. What's your take on the handling and road noise?

What are your guys' opinions on stretched tires? Is it that big of an issue?

if it was the correct offset then you would be having these issues. taking it to them is a good idea.
