NEED SOME ADVICE

Guys: I am considering trading my 2005 E55 for a 2006 E55. The 06 has 81k miles and the dealer wants 28k. My trade is my 05 with 45k miles that I bought for 30k. What should I expect (maintenance) to have done after purchasing the 06? Thanks

DG

I don't see the point? It's the same car. Is it a color preference that's driving you need to swop the car?

Umm why would you trade a 45k miles car for a 81k miles car?

Guys: I think my car is "hexed"! Since I have had it it has been broken into, I was hit by a group of new teenage drivers head-on, it has a rear seal leak, I just replaced the main pulley (and all belts) cause it disintegrated, all the rubber is dry rot, none of the interior wood trim pieces match just to name a few! O'h and I dislike the "old guy" reference to the desert silver metallic color, ha ha. Financially it makes no sense, but I just have this feeling that its going to cost me (alot) more later. The mileage is high, but its a 1 owner car with all the necessary maintenance done. I am the 4th owner of my car and it seems to be literally falling apart!

Sounds like you already decided what to do.
When it comes to cars I've decided that trying to rationalize anything is a waste of time especially if it's to the wife, she just thinks I'm an idiot.

You should consider selling it private sale and buying another one. This time get a Black, silver, white or Pee ewter.

There isn't much different between the 2 except that the 06 came with bluetooth setup. But everything else the same.

Great deal but I need financing. I could try and find a lender on my own I guess. Nice car BTW!

Thanks for the tip! I just have this aweful feeling about the 05 and everything that has happened so far. I have had to put WAY to much $$ in this thing just to drive it daily! The 06 is granite gray and I like that as a closing deal.

try https://www.penfed.org/
even if you're not a member of the US armed forces, you can donate funds and join the credit union

1.99% for 4 years
2.49% for 5+

they beat out Capital One by .5 to 1% when I was shopping around...

sell your car and wait for a clean low mile 06 I would not buy that 81k car as you will get hit with all the maintenance that the guy before it prolly never did.

It would be buying a money pit

If I did consider the car, what maintenance should I really be concerned with (high dollar items)? If he had it serviced regularly at a dealership then they would have a record right? Would carfax report maintenance too? Thanks Bro!

things that start to go bad or need to be looked at before buying

oil valve covers leaking(not a big deal),rear engine main seal leaking(labor up the ***),all plugs and wires need to be swapped and can be done for about 300-350 in parts if you do the work yourself and about 1500-2000 if done at the dealer.

tranny flush and rear end flush is about 300 for the tranny and 150-200 for the diff at the dealer.

The car most def has a dead supercharger pump at those miles and you need to see how it shifts since it was prolly drove hard to get those miles racked up so fast.

I would stay away enless its a forum members car that can tell ya what has been done.

It also most def needs new engine and tranny mounts at those miles and maybe a few bushings here and there.

I would keep your low mile car man or like I said wait for a clean low mile 06 to pop up.Remember you can sell your car quick with its low miles and if you wait and look you can find a clean car.

I almost sold my car for 29k a few months ago and I litterally just had like 2k worth of things done and Im glad I kept it because I fell in love with the car again after not driving it for a few months while it was stored.

i would be worried more about buying a low mile car than moderate mileage car... At 30-40K miles nothing will have gone wrong with the car... at 50-65k majority of wear and tear failures occur... at 70K+ those items have been addressed and fixed in most cars and the clock is reset.

case in point i bought my car with 42K on it... at 61K the airmatic went out and motor mounts needed replacing, total repair $3500 ... if you buy a 35K low mile car be prepared to incur this expense in the future... but if you buy a more moderate mileage car thats already had this done then someone else ate the cost for you already

also a 6yr old car that only has 35K miles on it (low mileage) is a car that hasnt been driven much and has been sitting around creating sludge in engine and dried out parts... cars need to be driven to maintain lubrication. Just look at the brake disc on a car that hasnt been driven in a week- rust all over.
