Battery Dead Cant open trunk
![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Hey guys, my doors are locked and the metal blade key must be to another cylinder because its not turning once inserted.
Is there a way to pop the hood from the outside of the car?

Tried the key blade for the trunk, does not turn either. I think it was a replacement remote at some point in its life.
I figured their is a way to pop the hood from the outside of the car?

Ask your dealer if they have on record someone changing out the locks?
You should get a locksmith or buy another key
The blade is there as a backup to keyfob failing or battery going dead
Afraid there isn't a backup if the barrels are swapped out

If I remember right the front lights need to be off to get to the hood latches. Sorry man, sounds like coat hanger time.

I heard of others squirting some wd40 ect.. in the barrel. Maybe its seized from non use.
Does anyone know what a dealer charges to cut a blade key? worse case scenario.

Do you have another key? I tried one of the blade keys on my car and couldn't get it to work. Then I went and got my other key and that blade worked no problem... Good luck

I just had this issue pop up for me cuz I closed the trunk with the batteries disconnected. Had to turn my blade and pull the handle to get it to open.

I deal with people locked out of cars fairly often with my line of work... A random roadside assistance company will be able to get a door open but not the trunk. Mercedes roadside may be able to cut a key on the spot from the VIN for you though. I know GM roadside is able to do this. My mom locked both sets of her keys in her car on Thanksgiving day and GM had someone come out and cut a key from the VIN in a half hour for free. If playing with teh key and doing as others suggested above doesn't work for you that would be my next step if i was you.
I'd imagine the keyfob was replaced and the correct key was never cut for it or whoever cut it cut it wrong. Kinda doubt the lock cylinders themselves were replaced. Anything is possible on a used car though.

From a similiar issue with a CLK.
The same thing happened to me. Pop the hood and there is a place for you to the connect the batter terminal ( + ) and you can ground the negative to something else on the car. It is a black box on the drivers side of the engine with like an X on it. Open it up and you will see two metal prongs. Connect the positive to that and ground the other wire. That will immediately juice the car and the alarm will go on and you can pop the drunk. I didnt try to boost my car from there I just used that to open the trunk. Hope this helps.

Found one E55 guy. Here ya go
My battery went dead while i had hte trans out of my car and the little key turned in the keyhole but would not release the trunk.
I found a power wire on the fuse block under hte hood and jumped power to it and hit hte trunk release and then charged the battery.

Do these cars use a remote starter solenoid? If not you can hook power to the heavy wire feeding the starter from underneath if you jack it up and pop the trunk with the remote.
Where there's a will, there's a way. lol
