Help!! Car dies hard to start and or doesn't?

I have an 05 e55 and it all started with the car dying on the hwy last year only to restart. It happened a few times and so I replaced the crank sensor and thought all was well. I was driving yesterday and the car died again but the difference was this time the car misfired before dying and threw codes p0300, p0303, and p0305. I know these are misfire codes and just wondered if anyone has had this happen as I don't want to keep throwing parts at it although my assumption now is cam sensor?? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sound like your ignition switch is bad..MBZ call it EIS.. This could only done by dealership ONLY!

An ignition switch causing a misfire.. I don't think so.

It could be cam position sensor. Checked plug wire and plugs recently? Coilpacks OK?

Try an ECU reset and then reset your codes. Drive the car and see if the missfire comes back.

Here are the causes..

Symptoms

Symptoms may include:
  • the engine may be harder to start
  • the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
  • other symptoms may also be present
Causes

A code P0303 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plug or wire
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Running out of fuel
  • Poor compression
  • Defective computer
Hope this will help...

Thanks, the car when it died stumbled alittle and stopped but when you go to restart the car, the car turns over with not a hint of spark and after sitting awhile it will start up like nothing was wrong?? Having it miss firing on more than one cylinder I was thinking cam sensor but don't know and this has a kleemann tune and pulleys and exhaust with 50k miles.

Just baffling that the car purrs like a kitten and then can just shut off?

Another possibility could be the fuel pump. If the pump is going bad it can overheat and lower flow and/or stop all together until it cools down.

That was another thought also. Is there an upgraded pump guys are using? Might do that just for the upgrade if that's an option.
