Mine hovers around the same temps, so I think that is fairly normal.

I was worried about the same thing as I just recently purchased my car. Mine ranges from 80 to 100 but never passed 100.

My E55 sits at 100. My buddies sits around 90. So i'd say your fine, and it's normal.

HELP - coolant hot message at 80-90 C ... why?

Folks, I need help ... my problem started with an "coolant hot" warning picture msg while the temp gauge displayed 80-90 C - according you all of you, that should be "normal". So why on earth does the message pop up?

I just can't figure out if I am dealing with a fan, thermostat, water pump, sensor, ... or whatever issue, or what to do about it. If you have ANY idea, please let me know. Thanks.

FYI, the car is an '08 ML350 and you can read more about my cry for help here: https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...ml#post6111896

My temps also stay in the same range. Hot day here in jersey (95degF) coolant temp will max out at 100 degC in dead stopped traffic, stays closer to 90 - 95C at normal cruising speeds. I'd say your temps are normal.

I agree ... but I think I can confidently agree with verminator and consider an engine coolant operating temp range of 80-90 C to be "normal" as the thermostat seems to open at that point. And the temp only increases to ~95 when idling. (in Texas 100 F)

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this thread, and I got what I came for (thx). I still need help, though, so if anyone here has a good idea how to troubleshoot an AC blowing warm air, coupled with radiator can not turning and a coolant warning signal going off, I'd appreciate the help over at my original post: https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...ml#post6115254

Much appreciated - thx.
