Resonator?
Hey Guys,
Got an aftermarket exhaust on but the drone is ridiculous. Everything is stock besides mufflers/tips. Wondering if x-pipe would get rid of it or maybe a bigger resonator than the stock one would help?

I took it to one yesterday before AMG and the guy was like BRO, this sounds bad ***. I am like man no it doesn't! haha. He is like if you want to kill the drone then take off mufflers and put on stock and x-pipe it.

2007 E63 AMG (Dubai), 2009 BMW X5 4.8i Sport (PA)
We deleted the resonator and secondary cats on my friends CLS and replaced the resonator with x-pipe and the secondary cats with straight pipe. It has stock mufflers and it sounds really good - no drone at all. It is quiet at idle but has a really nice growl at WOT.
I would suggest doing that but if you keep the aftermarket mufflers, do you want to sell your stock mufflers?

E55 AMG W211 - sold, CLS 500 C219, E63S AMG W212
You can also install an W211 E55 resonator.
It's very different than the cls resonator.
There is an gap so it works like an H-pipe.
The cls resonator doesn't

2006 W211
I was wondering the same thing.. I just bought a 2006 E55.. i actually haven't even got it in yet. Should be in Houston on Monday...was reading the forums to see what i should do first, i was thinking of doing a little exhaust tweaking before i bought the EC tune package. I don't want it to be stupid loud, when I'm cruising i want it to be somewhat quiet, but when i get on it i want to be sure I'm heard...
Suggestion just do a resonator delete? I already know a good muffler shop

Not so. The CLS55 resonator also has a crossover in it. It is a different design than the E55 resonator, but both have crossovers. I have a nice CLS55 resonator I'd be willing to sell if anyone makes a fair offer for it.
