p.s. The E55 is only 35kg heavier than the M5 - 1795kg vs 1835kg. I do not know where some of the US car mags got there weight data from as they appear to quote 4200+lbs (1900+kgs).
It really gets up my nose when people confuse opinion with facts.

Ben always favors BMW here and tries to put down all the other amg cars. I personally enjoy both cars amg and BMW //M but the new 5 series is ugly.

Yeah, and in Autocar the M3 beat the S4 on the track.

The original picture they started with I believe came from the Pontiac motor division of GM.

I was in getting my 540 serviced this week (I hope for the last time before my E55 arrives) and the service advisor was saying that right now the E500 is probably the best looking sport sedan out there, including what he has seen of the new 5 series. He told me that getting a new E55 was a good choice for the total package. He lastly mentioned that BMW will still have the edge in overall handling and feel of the road.

My service advisor is correct in all accounts and I can't wait to get my E55!

Hey Stephens,

Good to see another Aussie on the Board.

I new hear for a very good reason. I'm still a little in denial, but I could be coming over to the Darkside.

Unless BMW up the anti to around 650HP which is not likely, I feel the E60 M5 will be out dated before it is even released.

Is is undeniable that the Mercedes are not only a Beautiful motor car, they are getting prettier by the Minute. And also more powerful.

Personally I don't like having my *** handed to me, so sludge box or not MB have lifted their game considerable and raised the bar high enough that BMW could trip on it and fall flat on their face.

The Force is strong with the Darkside, and it is lureing me toward it.

I like the breaks...but nothing that AMG is not offering, and I do like how the 19' looks on the E60 plataform.....

..also you can see that on the black tape on the side is not allowing to see some ///M cosmetic mod .....
any way, my opinion is that the car in not ugly but nothing awesome either, not even the 9,000 rpms makes me crazy...
is just a sport sedan and a goood! one to keep the market moving
BUT
neither a E55 nor S65 ...... guys there is no chance to with AMG .....................

Maybe Bangle's goal is to convert Suburu WRX owners to M5 owners. That's the only other car ugly enough to make you want to turn ti this fugly Pontiac clone...If you look at the new M5 long enough, you can start to see the firebird on the hood...
