Humming noise from my W210 E55
Hello guys,
When I drive my car between 60-70 MPH I get a humming noise from under the car/ exhaust, and when I accelerate I can hear a faint whining from the engine. Anyone has any idea what is going on? I don't feel any lost of power and my car is 100% stock. I have about 12000 miles on the car. I am bringing my car for a service in a couple of week and any information will be greatly appreciated.

John, I have exactly the same problem, with my '02. It has been off the road for evaluation for a total of 12 days due to this problem. It's been to several dealers and even evaluated by MB technicians.
They thought it was the exhaust system and replaced that, now they are saying that it's normal and in the 2000-2400 rpm rev band the motor is coming on cam and its the resonance boom thru a low restricted exhaust sysyem. They also said it will get worse as the cars gets more miles as the mufflers "wear" which will cause more booming.

My 99 has the same problem but at a lower RPM (18-2200). It is very annoying and the dealer had the same comments about exhaust resonance being normal. They took me out in 2 other cars and they had the same problem so I dropped it.
