Is it possible to convert to one of the newer 3 spoke steering wheels? Would airbag function? Anyone done this?

I would really like to have something like on the SLS. The four spoke wheel is really boring and not very sporty.

ps. not a deal breaker if paddles dont function. I leave the car is S most of the time as the shifting is slow anyways.

I doubt it'll work if you mean the w212 ones. The 3 spoke w203's should work just fine though. Button layout is the same.

I was told that the W230 3 spokes could be used on the W211, getting one with an airbag and buttons at a decent price is another story.

Do you mean r230? Would it work on a 04?

Works for sure on the 07+ redesign, may be adaptable for the 03-06

That one and the CLK Black's are easily the sexiest. I hate the CF ones it's so annoying when you see a CF wrap on the door handles, dash, shift gate, steering wheel etc it's so tacky because firstly CF weave isn't luxurious and secondly CF doesn't even look like the "wrap" kits which have massive weaves and just Personally I like wood and leather, it's much more prestigious and luxurious. Aluminum is cold too, it's just lifeless unlike wood and leather.

Well he drives a W212 E63 im sure it will fit.. Ask him to donate or sell his stock wheel so someone can try to test fit it on the W211.

The only update I have so far, is that I asked the seller for an invoice but never got a response.
I just don't want any suprises with shipping and he did state shipping was free in the listing.
Airbags are considered hazardous and require special shipping credentials.

My original wheel is the 207 style 3 spoke w/ Alcantara

I'm still not sure which looks better the 207 style or the 172 style.
I wanted to get them side by side to compare.

Anyone think this guy sounds fishy?

He refuses to send an invoice or answer the shipping questions.
Shipping an Air Bag requires a specially certified shipper and who knows what packaging.
I don't want the wheel getting impounded by customs.
This guy has not demonstrated he understands the process.

Would you guys send this dude money?

ebay says I'm in the clear, if he wont send an invoice and that's before he tried to get me to send to his PayPal directly (which is outside ebay checkout and probably not insured).

Sounds fishy that he does not want to do the ebay checkout procedure. He is already paying the ebay listing fee and final value/sold fee. Do not send him a direct paypal payment, or the ebay protection will not be valid if you have problems with the wheel. All paypal cares about is that a package gets delivered to your door. Ebay will dispute with him as to the contents, condition, etc. But not if you do not do the checkout with them.

I have been down that road several times. Something does not seem right here.

And if it does get confiscated by customs, that is his fault. If you do not recieve your item within the paypal specified allowable timeframe, you could file a claim for item not recieved and he will have to prove that you recieved it via tracking number. If that cannot be proven, you will get all of your money back.

Ive been screwed on ebay before... so be careful. If it doesnt feel right buy from someone else.

Guys, I really appreciate the responses.
In these cases, it really helps to hear other opinions.

No surprize, the seller filed an unpaid item claim and responded with more rude demanding messages.
I contacted eBay again and now they are filing a report against him for non-professional conduct.
In my latest response, I asked the seller to cancel the transaction.
However, I'm sure he will just let the unpaid item claim playout and leave me to appeal it with eBay.

There is no way I could willingly do business with a guy like this.
I seriously suspect it is a scam, as the price was too good to be true and this guy communicates like a desperate thug.

I am still waiting for another wheel, shipping from Thailand 2 weeks ago, and getting worried about it.
However, that seller was a good communicator so, I am hopefull to see that wheel arrive this week.
