Don't waste your $ on a dinky cheapo flow master or magnadrone muffler. I personally drove a 08 e63 prior buying mine that had the resonator replace with a 2 in/2 out magnadrone & had completely cut off the stock mufflers. It sounded horrendous cruising & on the freeway, like hurts your brain horrendous. You're not driving some dodge hemi truck, you're driving an AMG…shouldn't make it as a obnoxious as a truck IMO but to each his own

Do yourself a favor and arrange to meet up with someone local to you that's made changes to their exhaust.
You can reach out Exotic Metal, and Shardul (I'm not sure where you're located compared to them, but you can figure that out) And I'm sure you can find others from Texas that can steer you in the right direction? NO FLOW-MASTERS.

I think if some European manufacturer relabeled some domestic mufflers and sold em for $800 each some people on this board would rub one out all over them but would hate them if they carried a domestic label.

So that was you I was messing around with on Westheimer a couple months back. I had the black lowered E55 with the dark gray wheels and badges. Your car sounded really good.

Like others, I first started with just removing resonator and replaced it with xpipe. Small tone change. Then removed 2ndary cats, nice tone, louder but mostly when your accelarating or reving it. Also no drone or noise at cruise speeds.
Now I removed the xpipe and the tone is loud, gurgly, pops, sounds like a mean v8 and sound is more present throughout the band. No drone but more noticable tone at cruise speeds. I am thinking it's too loud for me and may slap the reso nator back on to tone it down a notch.

To anyone that hates flowmasters I say

They were the ONLY muffler that would hold up to my Whippled stang as I ran here PIG rich for safety while road racing, and it would TRASH ANY filled muffler, including stainless steel. Think flames out the tail pipes here guys.

Now with that being siad, I also DYNOED at 496 RWHP on the stock block and bottom end. A little risky, but hey I wasn't made of gold

So I say, why not, I would NEVER spend the 2K on Eisnhiem, or for that matter ANY muffler. Save your money for what matters, blowers, tires, tunes, girls, oh sh-t that last one snuck in.

I could not agree more !! I spend a lot of time on this forum usually in the C63 area but it seems like there is a competition on who can spend the most for ridiculously overpriced items. Some people seem to believe that if they spend thousands of dollars for something that should cost a few hundred it must be superior.
