Man what a PITA - As you said it's part of the game, and I hope it's an easy fix.
You have a group of us that look forward to hearing about that 10sec pass.

RBY,
It was good to meet you, your wife, and the beast yesterday. I am sorry that GA did not give you a 10sec time, but 90 degree weather and humidity did not help! I think Greg even saw 105-110 temps down near the track?
I think once you figure out the transmission gremlin and have some decent weather, you will blister the 1/4 mile

Here are some pics from yesterday and a vid of Elliots new personal best run. His car is a f*****g beast, period. I also dont think his tranny is blown, since there was no noise, fluid and anything out of the ordinary that happened after the run.

This is such a great forum as you meet really good people, and Elliot and his wifey Jessica are GOOD PEOPLE. Enjoy the pics!!!

Race weight with RBJ in the beast

New personal best, part of the elite few knocking on 10s door Weather condition at the time of the run was 90* and 1500DA....

Before throwing parts at it try a TCU swap and see what happens.

I was so sorry to hear that 10's didn't happen yesterday, I was at the EC open house when we got the news and Jerry called. You had a lot of Texans pulling for you at the meet, that's for sure.

I do hope that it is something benign...and those #s with ambients that high...impressive.

Exact thing happened to me in the C32 when I had it...

Connector plate was jaked and I was low on fluid. Correct me if im wrong here boys, but I am pretty sure that you need to check the fluid refill on flush with the car in D and not P. I had mine done right before the track, and low and behold the low level caused havic on the tranny and left in limp mode.

I think Elliot said he just had his flushed recently too before the strip, maybe this is what happened. He just pulled a code of P220a so far, but I am not sure if that is related to the tranny issue, as the CEL only came on later on in the afternoon.

Code P220a means:

Fault codes indicate that the speed sensors in the transmission do not agree with one another. Is caused by a faulty speed sensor. The sensors are part of the transmission conductor plate. Most likely the conductor plate needs to be replaced. There is an sensor at the front of the transmission that should be inspected for fluid contamination. If the connector has fluid inside it should be replaced and the codes erased and road tested. Of course the tranny fluid level should be the first thing that is checked.

The conductor plate contains the speed sensors. To check the plug he just needs to disconnect it at the transmission and check it for fluid contamination.

To replace the conductor plate the transmission valve body needs to be removed from below. The conductor plate is mounted to the top of the valve body. It's approximately $650 to replace the plate along with the connector.

If the plug is wet you do the plug first and road test it.

Let us know if this helps, it looks alot like what Jake described, plus what you experienced after the second run, an outed sensor with no catastrophic sounding damage.

Thanks Jake, much appreciated! Let me check with Nemo and see what he's got first. He's already working on the car. I'll let you know.

That code can also mean your transmission is slipping. Considering what the car was being asked to do, i would go with the transmission slipping Bite the bullet and get a trans from a V12. More clutch packs from the factory.

could have something to do with that huge burnout. I did a huge burnout and had something similar happen but disconnecting the battery fixed it for me.

Now there's an idea.

Tried that at the track, still nothing. That was a crazy burn out though.

Elliot do like I said to check the fluid, use any trans dipstick from another car. Stick in until it bottoms out, just make sure it gets all the way to bottom and hits bottom of tranny pan. Check it with car running and in neutral. These are measurements to use at different temps. Measure up from the end of the dipstick and be sure the level is correct.

70 F = 25mm on the stick

90 F = 35mm on the stick

170F (fully warmed…about 15 minutes driving) = 65mm on the stick

And changing the electric plate is easy, I can do it in 1 hour and it is $250 from dealer or cheaper online and I have that brand new one sitting in my garage. Then it will take 4 quarts to fill tranny fluid back to proper level if it was at correct level before. Use the proper fluid also for the 722.6

I made that good tranny thread on the other site with lots of info.
