What difference does it make to you?

I have heard the SL55 AMG and want to know if the E55 AMG sounds similar. Got a problem with that?

 

I have a friend with an SL55 and the exhaust systems are virtually identical, apart from a crossover pipe in the E55. The E55 seems a bit quieter, but that seems to be the main difference.

 

The SL55 the loudest out of the AMG line. The CL55, S55 and E55 are nice sounding but don't seen as loud as the SL55.

 

Yeah, the SL55 AMG was loud when I heard it. I was coming out of a shopping mall, and this brand new SL55 AMG was looking for a parking space. Then suddenly the guy accelerated hard and the sound was amazing! Sounded very powerful.

 

Having heard all AMG models screaming at full throttle near each other, the SL sounds slightly louder than the CL and S which are louder than the E. This is an impression that all at the AMG challenge had.

 

The Sl 55 has the loudest, sweetest rumble of any mercedes that I've heard...

 

How does the Mercedes-Benz C32 AMG sound?

 

I've never heard my car from the outside...it's pretty muted from the inside. It sounds like a subdued growl, very tight and refined...but not techno like the BMW e46 M3. I do happen to like the M3 through titanium mufflers...some find it to shrill. Go to the Eisenmen (sp) site...

 

I hate the BMW M3 engine sound. It sounds too "bright" and "harsh."

 

By the way, can someone please post a sound clip of the W211 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG?

You are incredible Kain. Now you are asking for sound clips. Its bad enough that you post similar questions in all the other mbworld forums but this takes the cake.

Viper, this is one argument where I'd have to side with the kid. This is a forum for all interested, not just the over 25 crowd. Kain is not offensive and is just another enthusiast like the rest of us. At age 18, he's as into these vehicle as I was into Vettes, GTO's, 442's, and Chevelles when I was his age. The question I have is what cars will he be into when he's 40?

Kain, a computer sound bite is a weak substitution for the sound emanating from the 4 exhaust pipes of the real thing. Kain, if you can't afford an AMG car which 99.999% of high school students can't, I suggest a low budget track beater and alot of time learning how to get more out of it. The experiences learned will benefit you for the rest of your life and make you a safer more complete driver on the road.
