P2198 after E63 LTH and Tune

I got a CEL this morning. I thought getting a tune with the LTH will eliminate any O2 code?

Long tube header with cats and Eurocharged tune.

can someone please help?

If you can find someone with Star which has Developer the post O2's can be turned off. The other thing is just call Jerry and he can control them via the tune.
Hope this helps!

Did you tell Jerry to eliminate your O2's or not? Maybe he didn't, because you are running cats. Call him up and verify.

EC has been having trouble turning off the rear O2's... I know Kleemann can do it for sure, but you have to send your ECU to them. Or find someone with STAR and have them turned off

I would think someone who does hundred of tunes would know if I tell them i have long tube headers. This just a big waste of my time. Sighs..

I had a P2098 code after installing LTH's. I spent nearly $500 trying to fix the issue, I finally got Jerry to re-flash the car and the code went away.

Since then I've had the car retuned by Jeremy and no CEL's whatsoever.

Found more codes 4 total
P0420 -catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 1
P0430- catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 2
2x P2198-O2 sensor signal stuck rich bank 2 sensor 1

What does this all mean?

It appears your sensors are not turned off and you may be running rich.

I think you posted in my recent thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ne-review.html

I had the same - Catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 1 and 2 codes

I dont know about your area, but AZ requires O2 sensors to show ready. Eurocharged does not know how to turn off the O2 to show ready (at least for E55). You will have to send your ECU to Kleemann if you need the O2 sensors off and ready.

Bummer man....

on a second thought: double check your o2 sensors locations and make sure they are not misplaced in the wrong spots. I've seen this happen to some people while installing L/T's.

Peter,
I will call you today. I have an idea on how to deal with this quick and easy. We should not have to but it is what it is.
On the note of the sensors being swapped the 6.3 ecu can actually detect this pretty much instantly.

Thanks Russell! I need to pick up my stock exhaust from you.

Btw, you Mercedes guys in the Bellevue area that need work done to your cars ie..STAR lowering, repairs, or install your LT headers than Russell is the man!

Would "spark plug defoulers" attached to the rear 02s, to bring the sensor out of the exhaust flow, help with the codes?

It is hit or miss with the defoulers. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. They are not expensive so it doesn't hurt to try.

I bought some from Bruce at TTM, 90 extension with a tiny inlet hole. I believe they are stainless, they have worked a treat for me.

That what we are planning to do. I don't want to turn off the O2 sensors via tune cause I won't pass emissions. hope this work.

It is strange that your brand new cats are not doing what they should be doing...catalyzing, and showing a change in exhaust gasses to the downstream O2 sensor.

This makes me hesitant towards these LTHs. You think that the cats should do their job but apparently something is not right. Any reply from the manufacturer?

It is all in the tune. I have (4) E63's locally(only 1 being catted)that have the TTM/ARH system and an OE file on each of them and none of them have CEL's.

Yes, but the question for me is if the new cats are doing their job like they should, because it is easy to switch off the rear O2 sensors and pretend like it rains.

Will I pass emission tests during inspection or would I have to figure something out to go around it?

Have you actually hooked up the catted E63 to compare the emission levels?

This is a dealbreaker for me if the 02s have to be disabled to not have CEL. In NY we have to show ready. Im not switching tunes now and paying twice. I was going to order a set w/ cats for this reason. If they don't help why bother with cats at all.

Your tuner shows that he doesn't have the ability to correct the rear O2 issue. They are 200 cell race cats and they are for the people that need the system to have a cat in place for a visual inspection and have the proper tune. I have non-catted cars running with absolutely no issues with the rear o2's and they aren't turned off. It is all in the tune.

Maybe find a tuner that knows how to tune for it. I also have the prototype E55 header car that ran for over 150 miles and 8-10 key cycles with NO TUNE and there were no CEL's.

Seems pretty obvious to me.
