Found this post on a Bimmer forum that was discussing the same issue:

"You guys crack me up.

I am ordering Winhere brakes for my car today. By the way, Winhere Brake Parts is a division of Gates Automotive — a huge automotive supplier.

The Winhere brake disc is an OE-Quality replacement for the premium segment of the European aftermarket.

OE-Equivalent and Direct fit Application.
High carbon content disc.
Protective anti-corrosion coating.
Resistance to thermal cracking and distortion
Provides a higher friction coefficient.
Resistant to vibrations and noise.
Improved heat dissipation

Warranty Information: 12 month - 12,000 mile limited warranty.

Winhere Manufacturing - Winhere Auto-Part Manufacturing Co., Ltd. manufactures brake rotors, brake drums and water pumps for automotive aftermarket and original equipment customers. The 10-year-old company sells over ten million brake parts and water pumps annually.

One more thing, our race shop sells "OP Parts" rotors. Made in China. We beat the hell out of them on our race vehicles and they are every bit as good as Porsche OEM. Just make sure they are DOT/TUV certified, and you are good to go."

But I think I'll go with OEM after reading this thread and seeing all the pictures.

I did buy the Winhere rotors and Akebono EURO pads. But I haven't put them on yet. I have a company car so the AMG sits in my garage 99% of the time. I going on vacation next week and I will drop the AMG off at my mechanics house to put the rotors, pads, and a new voltage regulator on while I am away. Then when I get back I’ll take it to the dealer to have them put on SS brake lines and flush the brake fluid.

The Winhere rotors looks exactly like the OEM rotors and they do have a zinc coating. My plan is to change the rotors with every pad change. I do see a lot of stress cracks at all the drilled holes on my OEM rotors.

I will take pictures of the Winhere rotors when I change them out to see if they are cracking at the holes like the OEMs. But that might be a year or more since I don’t drive it much. Good news is when I do drive it I am very hard on the brakes so it should be a good test.

Winhere Brake Rotors

Has anyone used these? Are they drilled? Any warpping issues?

I wish I had money coming out of my butt so I could get the Evosports; but these are so cheap I could replace them with every pad change.
Great find, thank you! I still have on the original rotors (but changed the pads) so I may buy these!

Thanks.

Oh to show you some brake heat, see my picture of my front rotors after I did my 0-160-0 run (see sig).

My rotors are not warped and they're still the originals after 76K miles!

I was told that the E63 rotors fit the E55 and vice versa. So if you own a E63 and want cheap rotors you can use one piece E55 rotors. If you have a E55 and want lightweight two piece rotors you can use these. They look very high quality and much better pricing than other two piece rotors out there.

Can anyone verify the E55 and E63 rotors are the same size and fit each other?

I wonder if Racingbrakes modified theirs somehow to fit both or they make a set just for the E55 since they list:

C63 AMG 07-11
E63 AMG 03-05, 07-09
CLS55 AMG 2005
E55 AMG 03-06
SL55 AMG 03-05

Do we have OEM part numbers for the front rotors and rear rotors for the e55? I'm doing the conversion on our e350. The amg brembo's that are coming are from an 06' e55. (my w211 is an 09' but I read everything should bolt on after enlarging the bolt hole on the spindle by 2mm.)

I already have s/s lines ordered and Akebono euro pads ordered. I just want to make sure I get the correct rotors. Everything is popping up Centric which I do not want.

Also are the OEM rotors coated to prevent rust? I have read people stating there are two different ones. One will rust because it's not coated while the other is coated and is much more rust resistant...

Thanks,
-Nigel

Fcp euro carries that stuff. Pelican parts has a great website, I usually go there first to get things figured out. Lots of choices.

There is nothing much wrong with centric/stoptech branded stuff.

I have centric/stoptech through my entire braking system from braided lines through to pads and rotors.

The only minor issue I have is with the rear braided lines being a bit tight (lines are not really quite long enough in my opinion) but its been fine and the car stops better than factory with the upgraded stoptech performance brake pads.

Honestly I dont understand how people get so hung up on brake rotors and such. ITs a piece of metal there is nothing special about these things. As far as im concerned the cheaper the better when it comes to ROTORS. And that parts geek price is ridiculously cheap.

Im always for the cheapest rotor and then spending the money saved on the rotor on the pads that to me is where the real value is.

Better than Rockauto that price.

I don't have much to say about the rotors as my '06 has about 40K miles on it so the rotors are still good. If I did need rotors I would go the original MB route. I did put on EBC red pads on all four corners and the stopping power has definitely been improved.

If you can, see if you can get E55 knuckles, it was a pain trying to enlarge the holes with a hand drill. Unless you have access to a press. I got them relatively cheap a couple of years ago.

Before upgrading to the current girodiscs I used the Meyle brand (price : performance is tops) actually sold them used on here. They where solid and performed well with the akebono euro pads.

Might as well do the upper and lower ball joints too. My vehicle is an 2009 as well.

Just wanted to say that I used EBC red on my 07 E63 and they have performed flawlessly.

Yeah, we'll need to enlarge the bolt hole (2mm), and cut or change the protective plate,

what calipers you will go with..?, E55/E63..??

OEM Rotors should to be coated, most of aftermarket not..!

I'm on FCP Euro (great site and never heard of it before)

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...mer-0004202782

Looks like that is probably it but not sure if it's everything?

They also have it:
http://parts.mbfm.com/p/Mercedes-Ben...004202782.html
And list it as guide pin. clip, kit. So perhaps?

Or this?
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...mer-0004219091

OR do you get the back metal backing plates with new pads? I just want to confirm so I am not purchasing double of things to then find out it comes with product X...etc.

I am probably just going to manually enlarge the holes on the spindles. I can't find the spindles cheap enough and I'm trying to keep costs low on this since it's already blowing up as far as an un-needed mod...lol

I am going with e55 calipers. E63 look good, but the price of the rotors is ultimately what steered me away from going that route. I doubt I will have to ever change the brakes with how little we drive the car but it's just one of those things I don't want to spend $3k for a mod that in reality isn't going to get put to the test like my motorcycle or STi... Also going with Akebono pads. I use them in most of our vehicles and zero issues. EBC are great pads but they tend to chew through rotors from what I have seen/used. When they were on my STi's girodisc two piece rotors I noticed significant wear. Probably a little too aggressive but stopping was great.

I think I have a much better understanding on what is needed. Just have to verify part numbers.
I'll have to fire up my laptop with SDS/DAS/Xentry and see if I can get part numbers or a break down on what exactly is needed. I have just been looking on the net but the above is probably easier and 100% correct so when I get back from my trip I'll have to see.

Does anyone know the weight of the AMG caliper? In my head it's screaming "HEAVY" only because of the sheer size...lol

Just need to bend or cut that back plate, due to the more thickness of E55 Rotors,

(28mm vs 36mm)

sure, no need to get other spindle, enlarge them with yours,

*E55 8-pot/4-pot calipers/pads weight:-

A) Front: (7kg) each, pads: (2.5kg)

B) Rears: (2.6kg) each, pads: (1.5kg)

Welp,

Calipers on are on their way.

I ordered a single rear e55 oem rotor and front/rear pin/clip set. Got the rotor yesterday and it's nice. About an inch or two bigger than the stock that's on the car now. They shipped in two separate orders so I am waiting on the clip package to see 100% what is in it. I didn't want to order everything at once only to realize that I should have ordered bolts or something else and then have to pay $20 shipping on an order that was less than $20...
This way when I get the clip set I can either figure out if I need more/plus the bolts and order it with the front rotors and other rear and get free shipping..lol

I got my s/s stoptech brake lines. Typical stoptech quality. Looks identical to the 10 year old ones I have on my STi minus thread/size of hose. The rears DO look short though.

Also received my Akeobono Euro pads. I'm a little annoyed that for 4 pads for the front calipers Akeobono still only gives you that tiny *** little grease packet which is the same size as when I did my wife's solara's brakes a month ago. They should have supplied two-three packets.

Can't wait! Should be a fun conversion. REALLY wish I had the engine but honestly it's ok, if I want to go fast I just get on my Daytona.
