Transmission work with NAC pinnacle
Took it to the dealership.
Final bill was $3000 and short change.
NAC pinnacle covered $2377 without question.
NAC did take a few days to deal with it... I dropped off on Monday and had it back Saturday morning.
Knowing they max at $110/hr labor i gladly assumed the cost for having it done at a dealer who charges $135/hr. The only complaints go like this. NAC tells service to drop the pan and check it out. Draining fluid. Then when they report back NAC says they want to send a rep to come and drive it. So they replace fluid, he drives it, then tells them to fix it...obviously draining fluids again.
THEN< they wont cover the tranny fluid fills because they say tranny fluid is a consumable and each fill was $175 at the delearship.
This time, the dealership did the right thing and took the tranny fluids off the bill after the NAC portion had been paid becuase in their words "that's just a ****ty thing to do to a customer". I could go back and spend time picking thru everything and probably recover a few more dollars from NAC but i'm content and have my car back and i didnt have to lift a finger.
So for those considering NAC. I have had the car 9 months. Had front right control arm replaced. Engine mounts replaced. Intake gaskets replaced. And K1/B3 clutch components replaced. Total bills somewhere around $6000+. (only tranny work at dealer, other stuff at my indy guy who charges less for labor)
I came out of pocket $3100 for the warranty initially and have outlayed another $700.
So $3800 for me versus $6000+ in repairs.
Totally worth it in my case and i have another 35,000 miles and 3+ years to go on the warranty.

They only replaced the K1 plates?
Even if someone asked me to, I would never go through the hassle to remove the trans, open her up, and replace one clutch pack. You have to pull out other packs to get to it for crying out loud. LOL.
Here are some pics of the K1 in my thread from last year.

But at least it was covered under warranty.
Guess that is all they would cover anyhow.

My last repair was this past week and the bill as $2k and I paid about half of it. That is understandable as I had the infamous fuel pump leak and the dealer changed both pumps and NAC only covered the bad one. The would not cover the other pump because it wasn't broken and needed to be changed due to a revision. So in about 9 months, I had $5k of dealer work done with me paying for $1500 of it. That $3500 more than covered what I paid for my policy.

rest..
they did the K1/B3 replacements
I'm just shy of 45,000 miles
40 mph pulling away from a light under normal throttle. Car bucks and RPMs jump to 4k and the car sticks in 3rd gear. Couldn't go up or down a gear. Luckily was less than a mile from Fletcher Jones so limped it in there.
Havent got the diagnosis yet but they just did transmission work less than a year ago. K1 clutch pack fix. Pearlpower mentioned they should have originally done more work... if he is still here or anyone else can chime in, what do i need to know to get this thing fixed properly, and without any costs since they just did the damn thing?
thanks

it has run fine 9k miles since they last did transmission work so it seems unrelated.
will post up the full report when i get it monday. i only found out just before close friday and of course the warranty offices were already closed for the wkd.
rchase: i have never actually spoken to them (NAC). the dealership and the other shop i use have always dealt with them to my satisfaction. When i first got the car i had engine mounts done. Needed 1 but the tech told them how they would eventually incur more costs later to fix the 2nd so they should just do it all then. And also had the intake gasket done about a year later. That wasnt an expensive fix but i still ran it through them w/ no problem bc my deductible is only $100.
Make sure whoever is doing the work speaks to them and explains things properly.. a policy holder calling and saying "hey fix this and that" is very different from a mechanic calling and saying "let us fix this while we are in there so you don't have to pay us for labor again in 3 months to do the other side"
good luck
