New tire set up

Got a great deal on tires, paid less than $500 shipped for the whole set up..

Went with a "big meat, little meat" set up.. Thanks Craig!

Specs are 215/40/18 front and 285/30/18 rear.. Tires in the rear rub slightly, but shouldnt be too much of an issue. Measured the rears and they are 12 inches wide, so are more like a 295..

On to the pics

Curious to why you went smaller upfront than stock? My opinion is these cars already plow corners upfront with 245's.

Love the F14's though. Im still trying to decide on matte black or gunmetal. Are you running an 18x9.5 or 18x10?

Looks good!

Well smaller tire up front isn't a bad thing, it can improve turn in considerably although a 215 would be a drag setup imo. I Auto-x my car in occasion and my times were faster with a 225/35/19 vs 245/35/19. It feels more responsive as well.

Got a good deal on the rears and wanted to match the height both the fronts and rears, thus why i went with a 215.. Fronts are 8.5 and 9.5 in the rear.. Depends what color your car is, but the gunmetal really matches the pewter well..

Thanks

Ya 215 is pretty skinny up front for sure.. I get good weight transfer though..

Wish I could bro.. Already get hassled as it is.. Got pulled over the other day for front plate and guy told me to have the rears checked as he thought they were too dark..

Just got back from work lol.

After driving it a bit today the ride is a bit harsher with the smaller sidewall.

Did brake a few necks today to while I was at it.

Ummmm no, it won't improve turn in. you are giving up a considerable amount of front end grip

Probably due to weight savings, smaller circumference (for autox), and less sidewall....215 seems a bit small to me, but really the only way to know is to test...

To OP - What size Forgestars are you running (front & rear) ?

This is incorrect. The tire he listed fits up to an 8.5" rim, so the tire patch will be fine and he will experience less sidewall flex (which would be ideal from a feel and turn in perspective). Where I think he will suffer is ride quality, as the 215 has a smaller sidewall and on rough roads he may feel the bumps more (and his rims may be more susceptible to damage).

Just my $0.02.
