Thank you. It clearly indicates For engine or A/C!

But there is an error with the indications.... They say to change to -10, but As I read the screenshot it says the opposite ... A positive will make the fan to start earlier!

PS: In fact I went into the DIY and yes there Is that correction mentioned!

ok took it in to have it run through today..
1. i had over charged the system and that caused it to blow warm air.
2. After a evac and refill to the proper weight the air was cool and blew better through both sides.
3. they used a ultraviolet additive like the dyes and we will see in a few days if there are any small leaks. it held pressure for over an hour without any dropping in the readings.

i would now never recharge myself. MB just does stuff different.

I just bought a 2003 SLK 320 and I'm not impressed with the AC. Went and picked up the car in Dallas. Shortly afterwards, it started blowing hot and never recovered. Took it to a dealer who said the system was over-charged. Went to get in the car and they had it blasting hot air. After I drive for a while on the highway it blows cold. Takes a while for it to cool off and for those short trips, it never gets cold. Stopped to talk on the phone in the rain and the whole car fogged up on the inside. Can't wait to get it to my indy guy.

Great link & info.
My AC blows hot 90+ air for first 2 minutes after car start. Then blows cool air not COLD air. Dealer say its normal.

I have been laugh at for this poor AC performance.
Now, I just have to find a star diagnostic tool.

Are any of you guys in San Jose, Ca area that can help me do the -10 mod ? Or can you suggest a link to purchase a Star Diagnostic C3 tool ?

Thank you guys.

My AC sucks, but then again, I live in AZ. I travel about 65% of the time and have rental cars all the time and those rental cars are always freezing me out. With that said, I most likely need to recharge the system, but I never remember the AC working that great in my 55.

My A/C sucked and it turned out to be the low side hose collapsing. you can't see it until you remove the hose. There is a TSB for it though. Had it replaced and it helped a lot.

In my experience, the 4 zone AC of my E55 and E500 never blew as cold as the standard 2 zone system in the E320

Bag, did you do do the fix yourself, or did you let the dealer do it? My fan is simply "cool" if it's 90+ outside.
On cooler days(ambient), it'll freeze you out.. But I don't want to pull the system apart to find out that the hose is fine.

For reference, my black '02 Civic could freeze you in less than 15 seconds after spending 5 hours in a 100* day.

I had it checked on the gauges and it's not leaking.

Any obvious indications that it might be the hose? Where else should I look to?

The dealer did it.

The hose is not expensive, but you'll need to capture the refrigerant when you change it. I think ECS tuning had the best price when I was looking about a year ago.

I also noticed that sometimes when I manually change AC fan speeds, it gets a little weaker after a couple of days. Then I push the "Auto" button and the AC kind of resets itself.

My a/c was atrocious. I had the low pressure hose replaced. Since the system was going to be evacuated, I went ahead and had the desiccant canister replaced. Both parts can be purchased from ECS Tuning. The hose is around $90 and the desiccant canister can be had for around $30-40.

After having the pars changed and refilled with the correct amount of coolant, it is much better. If I aim my laser thermometer down inside the vent, I can see temps in the low 30s when it is 100 degrizzles outside.

The only problem I am having is with airflow. It just sucks. My mode selector radial switch doesn't do anything, so the flap to close off the feet vents doesn't close. I haven't found anyone else with the same problem, so I don't know what part to replace.

Oh, and even with the improvements with the current maintenance, the system in my 2013 Fusion flat out embarrasses the one in my Benz. Even my old '97 Camry with 175k miles had better a/c.

Got links to the hose?

Also, how difficult to DIY and approx. hours? I'll add this to my "winter projects" list.

I think this is it. Website isn't working on my work computer.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Site...815/ES1768033/

The DIY shouldn't be that difficult on the hose swap itself, but you will need to have the R134 that's in the system evacuated and then have the system filled afterwards. Most of us non-professional mechanics don't have the equipment for that.

Air distribution between front center vents

In A/C mode, do your 2 center dash vents each produce the same volume of air? My passenger side vent always blows a significantly higher volume than the driver's.

When you cycle the mode selector thingy, does it change (face/feet/defrost)?

My blower fan just gave out, smelled burning and done. Removed it and will go pick up the part later. Really good DIY on YouTube, not hard to replace
