Not trying to bash, but just curious if they really work? When I searched the forum, it seems those that got them agreed that it did not really do much, if anything, to reduce the heat to the surge tanks once the car got warmed up / driving around due to the convection heat from the headers and engine bay.

But, is there another benefit to the surge tank spacers - like somehow increase air volume since there is now 1 inch or more volume due to the spacers?

Best thing would be for someone to make intakes out of hard plastic like BMW uses on there engines.

In my old m3 you could put your face on the intake and not get burned.

Yes, the tanks will heat soak after engine shut down. However during normal operation, phenolic spacers will provide a significant reduction in heat transfer along the contact area. The actual reduction in charge air temps will be small and will vary on a few factors. But it's the many small improvements that will all add up to, in the end, make a difference.
