Power trunk sensor

My rear power trunk is acting up. At first I thought I had a short circuit or cut wires, but that is not the problem. I am guessing there is a sensor to tell the switch the trunk is fully open and capable of being closed and it needs to be replaced or adjusted.

If I just open the trunk, the power switch lights for a second and then turns off (and renders the power trunk useless). If I push the trunk just a little further (fully open), the switch lights up and can close the trunk fine.

If I use the switch on the drivers door, I can open and close the trunk fine. So I know the motor is fine, I know the wiring is fine, but there is something that tells the rear switch the trunk is open and that is NOT fine .

Any ideas how to adjust the sensor / switch ? Or replace ? TIA

i was having the same problem - thought it was the power or sensor as the button inside the worked on mine too - just the button on the rear lid was not working, but when my shop took it apart the wires way in there were coming apart - once they resoldered and rewrapped its as good as new - he said it is starting to become more common as these cars are approacing 10 years old.
