2007 E63 AMG
New guy
Hello,
My name is Les and I just bought a 2007 E63 with 31,000mi on the clock.
I come from a horsepower backgorund as I own and operate 2 Dodge Diesel trucks..one with a hair under 1000hp.
And a street truck that runs in the 12's...and makes 650hp...
So I am used to the HP lifestyle...I am looking for newbie advise for the car.
I see Eurocharged does remote tuning...I use EFI Live for tuning my trucks, is this something similar, or is it custom tuning with the ability to remote flash??
I live in California in a smog county so CARB legal parts are a must...are STH a benefit over the stock manifolds (since long tubes are not legal)...what about a CAI system? K&N are a big NO NO in the diesel world..is it the same with these??
I am looking for bumping the power without getting into the trans side of things...can realistic HP gains possible without getting into custom converters or exotic trans parts??
Sorry for the newbie questions..in the forum community I am used to, the new guys get flammed...but I must ask the questions anyways.

Congrats and welcome. You can get very good power out of the E63 with a tune. I would highly recommend looking into OE Tuning.
Shorties wont give you much gains. The real HP gains are in the LTH + combo, the N/A M156 responds very well to this setup. LTH's alone will net you 40+rwhp gains.
Btw your trucks are INSANE!

Does OE tuning do remote flashing? The car is the wife's daily driver so being down for ecu mail out is not an option.
Thank you sir...it's a labor of love...been doing it since 07, and have loved every minute of it.
What diesel do you own?
Thanks for the truck commitments guys...I am a diehard diesel guy, but after my first ride in a W211 in 2007 (wife's aunts brother bought one brand new and took me for a ride) I knew I needed to HAVE one, this one basically fell into my lap and I had to buy it.
As I stated in my first post, I'd like more power without needed to mod the trans, is this possible? Are the 7g trans pretty robust? Any other parts of the car that I need to be concerned with as power gets increased?
Thank for your help guys!!!

There are a couple of guys who had diesel trucks before that have migrated here now
I used to swap my E55 with my buddy's Sierra 2500 Denali which put down around 700hp
It had a compound turbo setup that boosted to 45 psi and was tuned by Idaho Rob
Awesome truck, too bad it couldnt tow a dam. IATs got too high when trying to tow a airboat to the everglades.

So being that LTH aren't legal in Ca (I've already got 2 trucks that can't pass smog, don't need more headache) are the shorties even worth the time?

Yes I have attended several Grudge Fest events at Sac and every October we attend the Fred Owens Truck Drags.

Nice, I was at Fred's last event. I was running the 2wd Duramax with slicks trapping 122's.

Undecided so far...may do most of it myself.
It's due for a trans service in 8k miles, might have Mercedes of walnut creek perform that and give a status on brakes etc.
Then I'll do the oil changes and fluid changes from then on.

Whats done to the daily driver? I'm in the process of changing the 64/71/14 over to compound setup with a batmowheel S483 w/race cover. Should make an easy 650/1400 i'm thinking without even leaning on it. As i'm sure you have figured out already theres no way for us to tune our own car's like we can with the trucks. Give Jerry a call at Eurocharged and you will be very happy with his tune

On a CR Cummins 650 on a single is pretty easy now with EFI Live.
My DD has 180's and a BW 66mm with a Stock Cp3 with a Arson III kit...with EFI Live I can get a good pulse time from it wiithout killing the pump, but unless I step up to a bigger Cp3, Ill never reach teh full potential of the injectors.
My pull truck has 300hp injectors from Extrude Honed, twin Cp3's, Single S478Li from Forced Inductions, Hamilton 181/210 cam, and right now in the process of going to a Air/Water intercooler setup...600* intake temps are KILLING the power.

OE Tuning does offer remote flashing for all M156 63AMGs. More information can be found here: https://mbworld.org/forums/5210653-post1.html

What is your truck and the specs...fuel, pumps etc...and year??

The twins are going on my work truck. 99 SO vp44. 7X.012 w/.030 lift (225-250hp injectors) smarty/quad adrenaline stack, meth,AFE manifold. It put down 542/1260 on the single 64mm. I have a CR also but of course no EFI live for the early common rails. I'm thinking of going smaller on the twins and have the perfect tow truck. 57mm/S475 still over 500hp/1100 torque and 60psi boost by 1600rpm. What kind of boost do you see from the 66? I've spiked 73lbs on the 64 with 7x.014's but usually see 50-60 max now
The BD tow twins..57/66 work well but top out in the high 500's. You might look into a BW S363/S475...which will flow enough for mid 600's.
My S366 makes in the mid 50's for boost...and with EFI Live it spools great and i can tow12,000# jut fine.
When EFI comes out for your early CR...look for Silver Bullet tuning on the forums...that's my CR tuning gig.

Ditch the Smarty....we've dyno tested them and they don't do squat for the VP trucks...we've found a simple Edge Drag Comp works the best.

I'd suggest using the quad alone and not stacking it with the smarty.
I am on the BETA team for EFI live and right now development for early cr is painfully slow only because the 07.5+ 6.7 trucks are being a pain for EGR/DPF deletes without codes.
Once those are done and good, early cr development will take off!!!
