85 in a 60 zone, went to court, cop no show. Got fined anyway, plus point on record and insurance cancelled policy, had to paid 3x the premium to get coverage.

79 in a 45 zone, paid traffic lawyer $350 got it drop down to a seat belt
ticket $124.
85 in a 60 zone, paid traffic lawyer $350 got it dismissed no fine no point.
95 in a 65 zone, paid traffic lawyer $450 got it dismissed no fine no point.

Moral of the story, paid a lawyer! and the good thing about getting a lawyer is that you don't even have to show up for court.

Looks like you need to take the bus!

In the future...pick your "kill zones" carefully. When I take the GN out and want to blast it, I'm VERY careful and only do it when all conditions look clear and no other cars are around or can enter the road One day I'm gonna get caught in that car because when I go WOT in the GN it's just ridiculous...I'll just pull over and put my hands behind my back
Sounds like your just enjoying the power w/o considering your "surroundings"!

Plus radar isn't able to be used to calculate speed when both you and the "unmarked malibu" are traveling in the same direction, doubt he paced you either. Sounds like you got caught by an officer for passing 2 cars at the same time going 95-100mph.

Learn how to drive like an ***, if you're going to drive like an ***.

You are incorrect, they can use radar to determine your speed when traveling in the same direction, ask me how I know

That is just lame. The guy in the truck should've been getting that ticket.
Best of luck!

Question to peter 02amg, where do you find a worthy traffic lawyer at that cost?

Correct, I was doing a ride a long once and the radar showed the cops speed, the person in front of hims speed, as well as the people behind him. very neat stuff

Upon talking to my attorney, he said that I should attend a driving school before the court date, then ask for no points with court supervision as well as pay all fines

you could get that deal without a lawyer, just by talking to the proscecutor.
and you save money
If you dont get a fair choice then postpone the court by talking to a lawyer

I doubt that malibu even has any sort of radar device in it.

I should have looked at the crappy pic a little more, guess I didn't care that much.

Yup I got pwned... Good thing i really didn't get owned and got a ticket like someone else in this thread

It turned out to be an undercover and even though he was unable to pace me he had my exact speed thanks to the radar installed in his vehicle.

They are able to use radar on vehicles that are traveling the same direction as them, my ticket proves it

You guys are still lucky! 2 weeks ago, I was doing about 68mph and was speeding up a bit to 72 mph to pass a Toyota to take an exit and saw a motorcycle far far away speeding up from about 1/4 mile away. That jerk pulled me over, and wrote me up for 82mph and no front license plate such a jerk! I explained I was doing 72 not 82, but the jerk did not care.

Edit: that jerk is usually on hwy580 around 150th to hwy13. So bayer, whatch out for that jerk!

Yeah, I was afraid that was going to be the answer. The thing that sucks is the insurance companies give lots of hight tech equipment to the PDs so they can write more tickets so the insurance companies can raise rates. I really don't think safety is the issue. It is revenue.

For some reason, no matter what the topic, there are pessimists. It did in fact have a radar. unless it was a small rectangular box painted black with three screens showing a green 55 (speed limit at present location) a red 97 with the word lock under it (my speed locked on his radar) and a blank box with target written underneath it.. one radar in the front grille and the other in the back window behind a light tint

Not sure if this still works, but if you pay the fine by mail and overpay by $2-$5 the system will not clear the fine and no automated report is sent to the insurance company. Only problem I had was when I renewed my FL license about 3 years ago is that the national data base showed I had an open ticket in California.

Sucks. I just got raped. 78 in a 65(at night in Texas). During the day the speed limit is 70.

I paid a lawyer $300 and then had to pay the court $298.10.

What a ****ing joke. I thought if you paid the lawyer, they would handle the situation.

By admitting fault, they acquitted all charges. No points on my insurance or license, so I guess it was worth it.

A funny thing is that I've yet to get a ticket in the three years I've owned my E55...in the E55.

Doubt it. I overpaid a ticket by $2 and the court sent me a check for the overpayment.

As said before, situational awareness. What did the Malibu look like? Did it have an extra antenna on it or maybe a small light bar in the back? Hawaii cops are very different as we have marked cruisers, but even more unmarked cars. Those are the officer's personal cars that are subsidized by the county. They have 4Runners, Mustangs, Camaros, Camrys, MDXs, G35s, 300s... so we always have to be on our toes here.

I was in a bright *** orange Charger about 6 months ago and came upon some traffic. There was a Tahoe in front of me(looked like an undercover, but figured he wouldn't have been tailgating the guy in front of him. I slung around, 80 or so in a 55 LOL. Got lit up. He asked me if I knew how fast I was going. I said "Yes sir, I sure do". My 9500iX didn't go off, so I know he didn't clock me. He let me go and told me to just pay more attention.

Yup, you're probably correct. This happened more than 12 years ago. It was interesting, though, that it showed up as being open in the national database after 10 years.

Best advise, good radar detector, good laser jammer and, by all means, pay attention.

The speed limit needs to be abolished in general..

People will still drive at whatever they are comfortable on..

At least test it on one major highway..
