BLUETOOTH HELP!

Gents - Is my 05 equipped with the software like the newer models? I'm getting tired of talking through my earpiece headset!

Thanks

yes all you need is a BT puck and you may have to code the CGW and Comand to CTEL fitted.

Is the BT puck a dealership part or is there after market?

Thanks Shardul!

Your '05 should be pre-wired, so the remaining components you'll need if your car never had a previous phone system installed and if you're not going to add Voice Control System (VCS) are:
  1. MHI module (installed in your trunk)
  2. MOST fiber optic cable w/o VCS (used when you add MHI module)
  3. Contact plate (connects to pre-wired pigtail harness in center armrest compartment)
  4. Bluetooth module (connects to contact plate)
Factory coding of all devices should be active on your COMAND so it should recognize the telephone installation. If not, you will require STAR DAS to code CTEL --> "fitted," just like shardul said. If you also want steering controls and telephone info displayed on your IC, you will also need to code your IC through STAR DAS with CTEL --> "fitted."

Is this cost effective compared to buying a BT speaker device ($100 retail) that clips onto the sunvisor? Thanks GunMoto!

A BT speaker device is going to be much cheaper, but I definitely opted for the OEM route due to the integration with COMAND, controls, etc. I spent roughly $350 to add Bluetooth functionality, YMMV:
  1. $70 (used eBay) MHI module (installed in your trunk)
  2. $11 (new Parts.com) MOST fiber optic cable w/o VCS
  3. $82 (new Parts.com) Contact plate (connects to pre-wired pigtail harness in center armrest compartment)
  4. $180 (used eBay) Bluetooth module (connects to contact plate)

I am attempting to install bluetooth in my 06 CLS500 w219, I have this same setup:
bluetooth puck, contact plate, MOST fiber optic cable, and MHI control module. I dont want voice control and from my understanding I dont need the other components that come in the kit. Since I will be installing the MHI control module without voice control do I have to connect the Teleaid mic plug to the MHI mic plug or leave it alone? And do I just plug the MOST fiber optic cable and MHI control power harness?
