Electrical Gremlin...advice appreciated

I have an electrical issue with my car as I have recently had the car gone completely dead on 2 occasions in my garage. Once I jump the car and drive it, the alternator charges the car back up fine. I get the messsage the convenience features have been disabled which disappears once the alternator gets enough juice back into the battery. Knowing that the dealer may have to use Star, I reluctantly brought the car to the stealership this AM and they've thus far been able to rule out that either battery is bad and that the alternator, voltage regulator and BCM are fine. They believe there is a problem with the audio gateway (AGW) staying on and draining the car's electrical. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Was the resolution the replacement of this unit? In the event they want to replace it, does anyone by chance have one they might want to sell me?

Thanks in advance!

How many continuous days does your car stand without driving?

Is it locked when not used?

AGW are known to go bad. You can fine one for sale on ebay for under 300. It is a PITA to get to it.

The battery drained itself enough in 24 hours for it to be complete dead. The SA got back to me and informed me that the lower control panel (LCP) was causing the current draw and draining the battery. This is the same panel that is located on the shifter that has the suspension adjustment switch. I've never spilled a drop on the shifter/console area, so I was a bit surprised to hear it was the culprit. One is on order and will be installed tomorrow. Anyone replaced this component before? I don't have a part number to check pricing for the part.

I would be happy to deal with the install if I could get off that cheap, dealer is wanting roughly $800 for the fix. Thanks for the intel nonetheless

2006 E55 AMG
Yes, I had this happen to my 2006. I pulled out all the fiber optic cable and replaced all the speakers and headunit, problem solved. AGW, went south on me and putting in new wiring and upgrading the sound system at the sametime solved it.
